Cannabis plant smells like hay before harvest

at the end of my first grow and having a few issues. I'll go ahead and give the rundown of whats happening. I got seeds from homegrown cannabis so I think some might be a genetic issue. First is first ppms are between 150-300, humidity is at 45 percent temp 75 percent. Use inkibirds to control it. Water when the its light and first two inches are dry also have a meter gauge to test wetness of soil. I didntbuse nutes until 45 days in because of using fox farm ocean forest and even then I only use every 3rd water at 50% recomended dosage. Actually less because im using gallons and its for liters. I have to water bow Bout everyday since theyre eating like crazy. Theyre in 5 gallon pots and blueberry jack herrer autos. First issue one plant just turned yellow and died, second issue I had four now down to 2 one just didn't take off and they all starting flowerinf 2 weeks apart. I thought that was just odd. One plant seems to be doing perfect besides the third issue. It smells like hay. I dont know if thats what it's supposed to smell like on the plant or not before harvest. They're in a 4x8 one intake fan one outake fan voth with carbon filters and 4 mini fans tqo above 2 below set on low. I use filtered water also and ph is always between 6.4-6.9. Im at loss.

Even when you pinch them? I'm with you sounds genetic. After you harvest it can smell like a cut lawn.

It could still be good. If you're like me I've spent the last 20 years hunting weed and being grateful for anything I could find. This strain specific shit is like an alternate reality. Im getting to grow stains I'd only heard about. What strain is yours? The are quite a few "low odor" stains.

Even in optimal environments sometimes things just don't work. I finish her out and see. Since you have more seeds on the way already, pop a few and order another strain. She may be the fluke.

I have 8 gelatos going and 8 banana kush seeds and 8 original lemon pie seeds and another one i forget the name of. These are photos though so ill see how it goes for round two. If they fuck up I won't use tbere seeds again. I spent a lot of monet ib mt equipment to make this grow go good and studied for a good 9 months before popping them in the ground. So I dont think it was me.

Mine smelled like flowers and after drying smelled and tasted like ... i don't know, but not flowers, it tasted good and smooth, the smell was a weed smell that if u smelled it from far away u would be like "Oi m8, can i take a puff?" Like a really good scent, but only after dried, because when i havested i even did a quick dry to get a early taste and shit was flowers all over, tasted like if u spilled a organic perfume all over ur mouth.

It needs to properly dry and optimally you want them to cure, because if you go by the smell they have at harvest is just like tasting concentrated juice, it will taste like shit unless u add the water. In this case some strains smell and taste weird as fk untill you let the water evaporate.

Some strains smell like skunk from the outset, others smell like grass or hay.

Once you harvest and do the initial hang drying, you need to cure the weed for the best possible smell and taste.

It involves glass jars, dark spaces and burps. You can look it up since I offer zero info on it.

The point of curing is to let the chlorophyll break down and the turpenes mature which alters (or should alter) the taste and smell dramatically.
