Carts taste like ass

Hello. I got some distillate and attempted to make my own carts. I got terps from 760 glass and another company. They are organic terps meant to emulate strains.
I tried using different ratios....5% all the way up to 30%.
I do taste the terps but not strongly and always have an aftertaste of what I can describe as metallic.
For reference I purchased a vape cart from a dispensary, cherry and it tasted like a mouthful of cherries.
How can I reproduce the carts from the dispensary?

Using actual cannabis derived terps would be were I would start. There are lots of food grade terps getting added to distillate and I don’t care for how they vape.

I used cannabis terps. The cherry pie did not taste like cherries...the cherry cart that I purchased tasted like cherry ice cream.
How do I achieve that?
Does it taste like that because it is an artificial flavor?

That’s totally possible they mixed up some artificial mix, lots of companies do it.

You said the canna terps you got were a mix to resemble a strain, so maybe those guys did a bad job on the mix.... I personally prefer the terps that actually came from the material ran to get the best accurate cannabisnflavor rather then mixing things up to replicate a taste.

Those are not cannabis derived terps. Those are blends of non-cannabis terpenes that try to mimic the profiles of known cannabis strains.
Cannabis Derived Terpenes will cost a lot more than $15, and are extracted from actual cannabis plants.

Your other issue could be your distillate aka the "hot-dog water" of cannabis extracts because people have been known to use really shitty material, including moldy, to make distillate. If you buy distillate make sure it has COA's available so you can make sure its safe.
