CFL Info

Useful link to a discussion for those gardeners using the old CFL method.

Has anyone started to notice how bloody dear it is to grow since the utility providers decided to dry root us all up the arse? I'm getting good results off the 48 watt Nelson units. Bunnings Whorehouse used to stock a 28 watt version but they seem to have pulled 'em off shelves. They woulda been handy for side or inbetween plant lighting.

I would mind the 130 watt 25000k unit to increase tesin production. Phillips does an 80 watt model. Those 130 watt globes look massive & probably better in medium size spaces. Still if you had 4 of those burning you'd have 32000 lumens & some dank results I suspect.

Due to the limited spectrum on CFL lighting systems, it will never compare to LED,HID or HPS lighting systems (some/all are multi spectrum and higher density lighting).

To put it as an example for you. If you had 300w worth of CFL's and a 300W HID. The HID would win by a long shot.

Hi Ozgrower87...check out some of the T5 grows on here which put many HPS/HID grows to shame. HPS has the advantage of light penetration but must of the wattage is wasted as it doesnt target the right light spectrum. That is what Ive read. CFL on the other hand doesnt penetrate well but does produce PAR in a more appropriate spectrum that the plants need.

I used T8's and T5's for over 15 years, now use them for early veg, then to Mh but if you want Bud, HPS wins hands down, everytime, save it up and try yourself ...mate!

I think cfl can be impressive. I've been on the fence for ordering 4 300w feliz cfl. 1200 actual cfl watts in a 4x4.

Yeh HPS would be grande but I shudder at the thought of the power bills. Will keep one when i can put a few solar panels on the roof. ive seen those Felix CFLS & they look massive & need a god damned solar system to support them from
Falling onto the grow room floor.
