construction finishes tomorrow

we're on the verge of finishing construction of our grow room. we'll be done tomorrow after a hard day of cutting holes for ventilation and mounting lights and shit. oh, and light proofing the door.

Our set up is as follows.

It's a closet within a closet. Basically, my bedroom has a walk-in closet in which we built a 2 foot by 4 foot closet to house our operation. Keeping that in mind, I'll start with our ventilation/air supply.

Fresh air will be circuited directly into the growing closet from my bedroom via 4" air duct (my room has it's own thermostat, another reason it's perfect) connected to holes in the main closet door and the left side wall of the chamber. Old air will be vented out through the air duct beneath the ceiling that goes directly outside. The fan will have an activated carbon filter installed and both are rated at 95 CFM which is over double what we need for a room the size of the main closet. We'll go back to why in a second. The filter will be as close to directly above the grow as possible

The grow space has a surface area of 8 square feet, and we'll be growing one plant per square foot, sea of green style, in ProMix. ProMix is a soilless mix popular with indoor growers in my country as a cheap and reliable potting soil good for indoor grows. Each pot is in the 1.5-2 gal range i believe.

I read that the Sun provides roughly 1200W equivalence of light for every sixteen square feet, which is what prompted us to opt for a 600W bulb for our grow. This is why we have the extra ventillation; to hopefully avoid the buildup of hot air or a rise in temperature. We have two bulbs, a 600W HPS and a 600W Hg (I've found no information on this type of bulb.. what is it used for? any help is greatly appreciated).

The walls will be surfaced with Mylar and the front will be mylar on one side, black garbage bag on the outside. The sides of this door be will velcroed to the side walls so they can be easily rolled up or down without damaging the mylar.

All in all I think we've done a really good job of covering our bases. I'll give you this diagram to give you a better idea of some of the things I mean. When we're done building tomorrow I'll post some pics (provided my friend shows up with his camera).

I figure we'll have another week or so before we can get our hands on some clones (we've decided to get off a different contact than before as the new one's known for access to ridiculous strain) and then I can start my grow journal (I'm bulging at the seams with excitement already). More details about the methods and techniques we've decided to use if anyone cares.

Peace, keep growing, a doob a day keeps the doc away!
