cool little milk crate tip

So especially with smart pots or any type of fabric pot, it's really beneficial to get your containers up off the ground. I'm a huge fan of milk crates because they obviously allow the bottom of your fabric pots to breathe. The only issue with these is watering can become a pain in the ass and make a huge mess. A buddy of mine works at a water treatment center and they've been installing a ton of softeners. He gave me a couple of these round brine tank lids and they allow a standard sized milk crate to fit inside perfectly. You can obviously go buy a bunch of overpriced saucers, but if you live close to a company that installs water softeners, they'll more than likely have a ton of these laying around and most of the time they just go straight in the dumpster. Milk crates are ok.. except it takes a ft of grow space.. not a great option less space less plant smaller yield, better off planting in the crate and using it as an "air pot"
LOL you know they are removable.....

Works great especially if you have some bigger plants on the ground and smaller on a crate........keeps it all even under the light.
I like to put the rooted clones still in solo cups on them while in veg.

LoL this post was supposed to be more about the brine tank lids anyways. they make awesome saucers and you can't beat free compared to the overpriced 40$ hydrofarm saucers.

Converted milk crates are great especially if you're working with very limited space. I grow in a converted computer cabinet and only have about 2' x 2' to work with. My little one gallon container is lifted off the floor high enough to allow me to sit in an office chair while I do what needs to be done and also provides plenty of gravity for the container to drain in 10-15 seconds. Airflow is greatly improved and there are no shortage of LST anchor points. Cutting away the left side of the lower crate allows the tear drop-shaped humidifier (not pictured here) to sit partially underneath it while I can store stuff in the unoccupied space.

OMG those are exactly what I've been looking for! Thank you for the link!!

They definitely get you for shipping though huh? Almost $26 to ship less than $10 worth of items.
Hmm to ship a gavita DE light it's like $20 bucks, I am sure that must weigh more. Looks like they get ya with the shipping. Still with their sale prices it's not that bad really.
