Cool Tube and Ambient temps... ??

Has any one done any comparisons to ambient temps and different lighting...

Mainly curious what the difference would be with a standard hood, an air cooled hood with and without glass and a cool tube...

Does a cool tube help that much in a smaller area... How much of a temp difference compared to other means of lighting...

As fair as I have read the temps will drop like 10*-+, if we think about it having the cool tub that has fans sucking all of the air-hot air out and blowing cool air in.
Even just having the glass under the light will reduce the temps.

I would think this would be more true in a smaller area.

Peace-

In a small area, they can dramatically change the temps in the room. I will probably always use mine. In my grow room now, without the cooltube the temps can get as high as 91f. With the cooltube my temps stay around 79f. It also depends on the temps of the air that you are bringing into the room threw the intake. Overall i would say that a air-cooled reflector of a cooltube is a good investment.

I was looking for an answer like this as well. What is the size of ur grow area and what lights are you using??

I had a 400W HPS in my wardrobe that would raise the temperature into the mid to high 90's Fahrenheit even when the outside temp was in the high 60's. I purchased an air cooled hood with glass that I have vent my exhaust and pulls cool air in. My grow now am now about 5 degrees above outside temps.

My grow dimensions - 31" wide, 21" Deep, 74" tall

You can check out more pics of my setup in my gallery

I dont know what the exact dimensions are in my new grow room because the ceiling slants to the back. But i had the same setup in my other grow area that was 22"X31"X5ft tall and it lowered the temps in the room an easy 10degrees. I am only running a 250w hps.

that all helps put me at ease, I'm getting a 1000 and still a tad worried about the heat, but I think all should be ok now

If you are looking for light intensity a cool tube will shave off some of that intensity... As will any glass enclosed setup... But the cool tube and a circular reflector that most get with them are inefficient at reflecting light...

This is why t is said to really only benefit smaller setups...

I like the glass enclosed reflector but i think a cool tube might be more economical for the beginner...

Still doing research at this point...
