I still don't understand why people think cosplay is weird or dorky, but when they want to wear slutty halloween costumes or go to a fancy dress party, it's okay. There's usually more passion, dedication and quality in cosplay (obviously you get shit ones).

The convention I last went to happened to be the day before Halloween so when I came back on the bus, the people in half-assed halloween costumes were looking me, then themselves and suddenly feeling a bit awkward. I might have been stared at alot that journey but the May convention, it was much more. I don't see why people can't just see someone in a costume and think 'there must be a reason, or event this person is in costume for' and evaluate it for its aesthetic appeal and quality like any other outfit.

People dressing up for premieres is cosplay. I noticed even people in 'normal clothes' going to the movies often wear something subtly connected to what they are seeing. To a certain extent, going to a sports event in team colors and face paint is also cosplay. *shrugs*
Cosplay IS dorky ! lol but that's okay I'll post my Slytherin Costume later hehe I want to cosplay as kitty pryde from ultimate x-men but I would need a spiderman lol

Seen some awesome cosplay online, this guy built the guy with the giant drill for a hand from the gaaaaaame... Bioshock! Looked LEGIT!

Also seen this guy create an insanely realistic looking warewolf, shit looked totally bad ass!

Plenty of Ironman and Transformers costumes out there too.

Are furries considered ok by the cosplay community or do you guys have to draw the line somewhere?
It's all fun and games till a kitty and a rabbit start dry humping...

Someone nailing one of my favorite anime characters, Haruhara Haruko from Fooley Cooley. She even got the yellow-green eyes right. nice.

As a therianthrope the whole community needs to draw a line between what they are/ do and CSI fluffy sex fiends lol. Some fursuiting does come under Cosplay- mascots, and animal characters like Tony the Tiger, Kyuubi, princess mononoke wolves or Link's wolf form. I make ears and tails but I prefer more naturalistic stuff to creepy cartoon animals. Always teetering on the border with the furry community lol. They're ok, I used to attend their monthly meet ups but some are a bit warped. So yes, fursuiting can count.

Bear in mind these are all old crappy photos lol

Horo, Spice and Wolf casual cosplay. Last minute and she's naked half the time so I just made the ears and tail quickly, didn't dye my hair

This suit is amazing; the stance and proportions are what I'd expecting an anthropomorphic wolf

I only made it through like 2 episodes of spice and wolf, but it did and still does make me crave for baked potatoes with goat cheese every once and a while.

I mean no offense, this is a sincere question. What is the fascination with all this Japanese stuff? My daughter in law (early 20's) loves anything Japanese. Draws and watches only anime, drinks only Japanese sodas etc. To each their own, but anime and lots of japanese stuff just seems real fruity to me....the spiky hair, big eyes and general weirdness
