Curing in 5 Gal buckets

Hey!! New here! Also pretty new to the cannabis growing world. I recently got a job as a cultivation tech where I spend most of my time drying and curing. We use 5 Gallon buckets for curing, after we’ve wet harvested and let the buds dry out for 5-7 days. I’m wondering... what seems like a good burping schedule? We fill our buckets with about a pound and a half of cannabis and as of right now I’ve been burping once in morning and once in the evening for about 5-10 minutes each time. Does this seem sufficient?

What's the RH of the buckets

Let me know how it works. I personally hang dry for 14 days. Get it real good and dry. Trim. Then closed paper bag for a week. Then jar and burp.

I'm extremely confused right now.

Why are you asking a bunch of strangers how to do this when you work for a company that should be telling you how to do it.

Shit they are a cultivation company right? What are they telling you?

Also why are they only drying for 5 days?

This whole story doesn't add up to me.

Buckets are not airtight.

For real. my thoughts exactly. The industry hires fresh out of school agriculture students for cheap and expects them to find there way..

Which is why mom and pop cannabis will always be best.

I wish I was at a point where I was curing in 5gal buckets and storing weed in turkey bags....

One day. For now I'm happy with my half lb harvests.

there is a small scale DIY for ball jars

cannabis properly dried for 10-14 days is much better than cannabis dried in 5-7 days. Why I are you running the drying and curing department with no experience, this post has me worried for your customers safety.

This is why mom and pop, farm stands, and local will always be the best.

I would never use a bucket to cure ganja.

There's a good chance that the weed takes on a plastic-y taste. It's generally a bad no-no.

That's why the standard is glass or airtight stainless steel.

It doesn't.

I cure and store in those buckets. Not as good as mason jars. But when you have a few pounds and already filled jars. The bucket works good.

food grade buckets only please. you also need the air tight lock so you can maintain perfect RH inside the system. its quite brilliant really.

I use vac n seal bags in the buckets.
