cutting fan leaves to increase light to lower branches

Does anyone do this or do you wait till lower branches extend out enough?
Im in a small setup 2ft x 2ft growing space 160cm talland just trimmed back a slow growing holy grail kush as it has mini branches down low getting not light.
Was this a bad idea? im doing a scog so want all my branches spred wide.
two plants in that 2ft by 2 ft space on the orther plant which is more mature oi took three cuttings for a mum to choose, healthiest clone is going to be my mother.
i have three or four cuttings to choose from.
I know plants grow back but have i chopped it too much, do fan leaves are they needed for branch prodution?

A meter & a half tall plant is too tall in that size area. You want to aim to be finished stretching at about a meter. Then if its scroged out good most of the plant will have light & it’ll make best use of all that 4 sq feet of area. 160cms tall could just about purposefully & selectively trim it down to half that size, give it a 5-7 days to recover while scrogging then flip it to 12/12 it’ll stretch to 1-1.2 meters

the plants not 160cm the tent is. Thanks for the replies. my plants are 20cm tall on the left 15cm on the right the one of the right is slower as some seeds didnt pop and that was a late entry 2weeks behind the other one. the plant on the left is starting to spread under the net but the one on the right is only just reaching the net.
I will try to take some shots. its holy grail kush last time i grew that strain one plant filled the room due to stretching too much i had an og13 next to it which was about 60cm tall better structure and stature but not as potent or tasty as the holy grail kush. everyone loved the HGK even a mate who has cancer on hydroconiene. he prefers those buds to his pain meds.
its just a pain in the ass guessing how much it will stretch.

as you can see above the light there is a lot of room above the light for stretch but id prefer to keep em short or around 50cm past the screen.

I trim and shape during veg growth

It’s how I train my plants to do what “I” want them to.

one question though and please don’t take this the wrong way.

you’ve been on this site since 2010.

have you been growing this whole time?

some of the questions I’ve seen you ask lately are fairly basic entry level questions and was just wondering if you’ve had a hiatus or something?

I'm going to help this dude save face right now.

I've been growing for a while. I have been smoking for even longer.

My memory is so fucking bad I look back to be sure about shit I learned last year. Forget about 10 years ago. Lmfao

One thing about having a good setup is you go into autopilot and start forgetting what you had to overcome to get there. I went several years cranking out the same strains with basically the same setup, then I changed everything up and now feel like I'm starting from square one. This has been a blessing in a way, because a feel like I'm really starting to understand growing beyond keeping my lights this high and adding this amount of nutrients and so on.

It's like when you sit down with a new keyboard that has a million buttons and the manual completely goes over your head. You're thinking, "just show me how to turn on the organ!" You finally figure it out and begin jamming on that church organ like Bach. Eventually you get bored with that sound, and also want to record something. So now you start learning what all of the other buttons do, and it all starts to actually make sense more and more.

Not sure what tent you have but
it looks like you have plenty of space above to mount that fan instead of losing grow space
As far as catching up , I doubt it will but you can weave the one on the left into the SCROG while you are waiting

If the one plant fills up the scrog, chop all of the lower branches off of the other and let it focus its energy on what actually makes it to the canopy. Sometimes you'll only get one nice cola, but it's better than chopping the tops off of the big plant and waiting forever for the small one to catch up.
