Day 1 smelly tap water

So starting a new grow with bubbles again. My first grow I went with pure RO water the whole way through, beside over feeding everything went fine. Now, to save me lots of trips and $$ I wanted to try and use tap water this time.

So, My tap water is 116ppm and I pass it through a RV inline charcoal filter, this brings it down to 110ppm. I prepared 4 gallons of water 2 days prior to putting the seedling in the bucket since the ph of tap seems to raise by itself constantly. During the 2 days I placed an air stone inside and kept it in the dark. Anyway, the end of the first day with the rez now in the tent, I'm smelling a pretty gross smell from the rez. After reading a bunch I know 110ppm is ok for tap water and I though myself that was pretty clean (looks clean too). Nothing looks moldy, I do use a bacteria killer which has no odor.

Is this common with all tap water dwc grows? I read people with much higher ppm's using tap with no complains. I'd love to just use RO again, but when the plant taks 1 gallon+ a day, its silly running to the same store for water every week.

Nothing but an air stone and 10ml of 10ppm colloidal silver for 4 gallons.
unless your air pump is in an outhouse or port a potty, my guess would be the silver.

are you sure it's safe to smoke plants loaded with CS? cannabis absorbs heavy metals quite easily

Silver was made with distilled water with zero odor. Not the air pump since its in the tent atm with no exhaust on yet.

It has to be the tap water since that and the silver are the only changing factors. As far as the silver, I'll look into that, I figure I'd use it since I'm using tap. Also, it would be going to pure extractions and edibles, no smoking here.

Describe your bacteria killer

he's the 2nd person lately that uses C.S. as a sterilizer. that seems very unsafe to me unless you want to turn into Papa Smurf. you know more about that toxicology than I though.
I mixed some ionic silver not to long ago.

It grew mold.

So I’m not picking silver as a full-spectrum killthingy.

Are you on a well or municipal water? Well water can have an odor at times.

Municipal.

The water seems cloudy now since I must not have done a good enough job cleaning the clay pebbles, a few made it to the bottom. I just added 4ml of hypochlorous acid and will flush the res next week before adding nutrients, little girl looks fine, just smells bad lol. Maybe my nose is just too sensitive and I'm used to a zero odor rez.

I did use h202 to clean the rez and pebbles, but rinsed thoroughly. Going to match the h202 smell to what I smell in the tent.

I wonder if the water is high in sulfur, does it smell like eggs?
Was thinking the same thing. Few years back I lived in a spot with high sulfur content in the water. I fucking hated it. I bought a very expensive whole home water filtration system so I wouldn't have to smell rotten eggs every time I wanted to shower or brush my teeth.
