temp 81
rh 55
res temp 79
ph 5.5-6.9
5g res
3.ml clorox bleach with fresh res
ppm to 1100

approx 30 days old had severe root rot had to plant in soil just got them back in hydro 3 days ago

ppm was 940 yesterday now its 800 but it seems the def is getting worse looks like n to me my ph was a little high 6.7... but thats still in the range for n uptake am i right?

anyways i adjusted ph to 5.5 added 30 ml aqua guard to get the roots moving res temps around 75 atm

i dont have a much experience with hydro other then a collective on a perpetual eb n flow how fast should they be eating thru the nutrients how do you effectively determine your ppm?

+rep to best answer

try to keep your ph 5.5-6.0, maybe 6.5 at the most. hydro likes the lower ph. what kind of nutes are you using? is it deep water culture or ebb and flow? what about water, are you using RO or tap? and the 3ml of bleach.. can you explain that step better. is that just to clean the res?

i would try to drop the temp of the res tank too. your getting towards the higher end at 80. 70 always seemed right in the groove for me. i believe it holds more oxygen when its cooler to, so maybe that will help future root rot.

im using dynagrow grow although they're in their first week of flower everything else in my cab is ready i'm not going to stop for two little plants they're in 5g dwc in plain tap

the bleach is more of a preemptive measure clorox does the same thing as h2o2 just better and its safer i wanted to be sure there was nothing left in the soil so i used the clorox to oxidize any left over organic matter just for a safer transition on the clorox web site it says you can add 8 drops per gallon to clean drinking water i meant to say 2 ml.. 1 ml is about 19-22 drops so 2ml would be 40

if you can use distilled or reverse osmosis water that might be helpfull too. depending on where you live that could be your issues. my water is 7.5-8ph comin from the tap! you could let your tap water bubble for a day or two and it helps lower the ph but there still might be alot of sediment in the water. mine is almost 500ppm, thats way way to high to start with. dont be afraid of h202, if you buy the 3% solution you can add lots of it to your water to flush, in a pinch ive done 1 cup per gallon. i only say this cuz i feel your gonna take some heat on here for using bleach lol. h2o2 also helps add oxygen if you happen to over water.

clorox bleach is used in commercial grow houses in the sprayers as well as the flood tables a little bit of chlorine is fine for plants its chloride that messes them up leaving water out is to rid of chloride not chlorine people just don't know any better

i hear ya on that. my mom used bleach for everything when we were growing up, house plants included. hell people think the 3% h2o2 can kill you still hah. i just remembered that you have a white grow pot.. if its not a pain, switching to one thats black or painting it would help. the light that gets thru makes algae grow and could stress the plant out. some are more finicky than others tho.

maybe cut a piece of cardboard and make a circle with a slit to fit around the stalk. i guess any material thats easy to cut would work though
