Defoliation / Growth removal for SCROG

I have been growing with the SCROG for a while now with good results. Everytime I end up with lots of popcorn buds and growth below the screen. I like to defoliate heavily, I just don’t know how far to go with all that growth that has ALMOST made it to the screen 1 day before flipping. Should I keep the growth with the hope it will make it over the screen after stretchin, or should I just remove it alltogether and keep only what’s over the screen already?

What is your goal doing this? To keep the canopy all one level? do you let it grow thru it or raise it as it grows? Not my grow method but I keep the canopy all one foot from the light without anything like this. raising and lowering the plants bending branches is my way.

the goal is to have a flat surface full of colas where all of them get the same amount of light
