I always wondered why I felt better walking in nature. But I never knew it had to do with our brains response to fractals.
Love the article......the city seems grotesque to me when I leave lake , woods ( this rural area) and have to go to those urban streets.

Same. The human species is about 200,000 years old and 99.99% of that time we lived in nature.

It's interesting if we take an animal out of its natural habitat and put them into a confined artificial space it is cruel. But when humans are living in those spaces we ignore the effect on their mental health.

I read this article recently...

"Cities are associated with higher rates of most mental health problems compared to rural areas: an almost 40% higher risk of depression, over 20% more anxiety, and double the risk of schizophrenia, in addition to more loneliness, isolation and stress."
