Do you count flowering from 12/12 switch or when you see pistil hairs?

Guy what is your issue? You sound like a real drag to be around..your blowin my high man..go beat your wife or something.
I’m just trying to wrap my head around some master who has had multiple thousands of plants grows with a Amazon blurple in a 3x3?

Pistils. The breeders IMO usually include “flowering times” that may seem to be ridiculously low to some of us. I think “their” flowering times often are on the low side for growers who harvest early. Also they are master growers who know their strains and grow it over and over again. So. Us connoisseurs of their strain probably won’t achieve their gracious guidelines.

You said that I didn’t..and yeah I’m confident in my skills..you know what I’ve learned in the couple decades of growing? That weed is a weed. It’s easy to grow. Give it sun, give it nutes, give it water in no particular order, the weed will grow..nobody knows it all, I don’t claim to. But you know what ever you do in life, do it well, keep learning, try new things. And that all for now, doing a res change and I’ll be dammed if a troll makes me flood out my grow. Lol

All this silliness about counting weeks and people being so passionate defending their stance. Personally I get the confusion. Seed companies give you the smallest window they can since everyone wants the fastest return. Your plants don't give a rats ass what week it is, they don't read breeder claims and they don't look at the calendar. Call each week what you want, it's not relevant. When you flip your plants go through a transition, they are not flowering but rather transitioning into the flower phase, this is when the big stretch starts. Now if you want to consider flowering to start when the stretch is over and flowers start to show than do that. If you want to consider flowering to start as soon as you change the light cycle than do that. The plants don't care. They will flower until they are done and the flowers ripen. Follow breeders claims and you will likely chop early. Follow nutrient companies claims and you will likely over feed your plants. Here is an idea for all to try. Feed your plants according to their needs and not a chart. Chop your plants when the plants show they are done, not by the calendar. If you do that you will end up with great plants. Good luck growers, may your harvests be amazing.
To summarize

Get a loupe and some patience and you will be rewarded

I was wondering how do you count the flowering days.

Do you count from 12/12 switch from 18/6

Or

Do you start counting flowering days when you first see pistils?

I always have started counting the flowering period from when I see the first pistils, however I recently have seen a few people counting flowering period from when they switch from 18/6 to 12/12.

see I figured if I switch from 18/6 to 12/12 then it takes a further 10 days for the plant to show sex and I counted them days as the flowering period, that means I could harvest 10 days early as I counted them 10 days as flowering perid, just when the plant will put its weight on in the last 2 weeks.

I hope that makes sense.

Please Feel free to contribute to the thread & leave comments.

Peace
Mj:peace:
I count from flip, minimum 10 weeks before cut.
Some go 12 weeks.

So here’s your plant you posted in another thread on day 21. Looks like it has most leaves on it still? So you just type this nonsense for fun?

asking for a friend

also feed your plant, you have a nitrogen deficiency

Also that’s a trellis, not a scrog FYI

When I scrog I use 2-3 trellis nets lol. Let them bitches weave

Hey I'm using 2 nets now for my grow! lol

Technically the lower net is the real scrog, and the top one is just a trellis just in case upon flip they stretched unexpectedly and might require support later. It turned out this fat lady didn't need the second trellis, but I figured it would give me a cut off point for defoliation below the lowest net and above the top one, keeping the middle full of leaves but without suckers, buds, or growing tips of any kind. It's not working out perfectly though. haha

What you have going on from the sounds of it, isn’t a true scrog. But who cares, as long as your happy and doing your thing in the garden. I currently have something similar with my med and rec plants at my home. I don’t have that much time to spend in my home garden to do a true scrog style grow, so I half ass it get the canopy as even as I can with a multi strain grow and throw up a trellis to help support the fat mommas later in flower.

I record switch to 12/12. I then record first true hairs after pre. That is day 1 of flowering.

Props OP. But kinda messy and not more than to be expected in pics. Shared decades. Still lacking. Check out @doublejj for how it is done.

We are only as good as our open minded ness allows.

The blurples was funny. Gotta admit that. 003.jpg

Yeah, it's a true scrog. https://www.rollitup.org/t/one-pink-lemonade-no-till-cycle-7-in-4-foot-diameter-pot-5x5-tent.1028655/

How else is anyone going to fill a 5X5 foot tent with a single plant without running out of headroom by month 3 of veg? Can you explain that? I suppose I course have used up days of my time monster cropping and LST with 1,000 ties, but I'm getting older and have other things on my bucket list now.

But from what you're saying, I'm starting to wonder if you even know what ScrOG is, or what it's for. It's basically just a lazy person's aid to keep plants low and spread out, to fill an area with wall-to-wall colas that get the same level of light for indoor grows where the inverse square law with most LED is NOT our friend! lol

You have a point on scrog. I just top a single plant as needed and quit when close to my max clearance and accessibility. No real work.

Here is a scrog in 4x4 and a 4x2+ mother waiting for spring. 002.jpg

Here’s a couple good references for a true scrog:
