Dr Greenthumb seeds

So first let me say I have only grown about 12 different strains. I average roughly 98% success germinating seeds.
So I did some research on Dr Greenthumb seeds and decided to give it try. I was extremely excited to try 2 strains specifically Oh Zone and Headband. So I ordered them. Their seeds are more expensive than average but suppose to be very high quality. It took 28 days to receive my order. The order came with specific instructions on how to germinate their seeds. So I followed the directions to a tea which is not the way I normally germinate. I tried 3 seeds using their method. All three failed. I tried three more using their exact method and only one popped. I tried 2 more using my method and had 1 pop. So far out of 8 seeds "4 of each strain," only 2 popped. Not very good odds at all. If I continue to have this type of results with the remaining seeds they will have costed me $150 per successful seed. I emailed Dr Greenthumb three times and my emails were returned to sender. So out of 15 seeds from that single order there are 7 left. Wonder what the odds are that the remaining 7 all pop?....Zero!

I must say I am extremely frustrated as I have never experienced such a high failure rate of seeds ordered before. Has anyone else had issues with their seeds? I am going to write a letter along with the remaining seeds and send them back requesting fresh seeds or money back. I think we all know how that will turn out. That is why I am posting this. Beware, I hope you have better luck than I have with Dr Greenthumb products. I will update this thread at a later date if I hear from them.

Shit..! Dr. Gruber had me thinking about greenthumbs Panama Red, claimed its the stuff from the 70s, and I was going to drop cash on it this fall for next years run!?

I'm going to watch this thread before I buy! wasn't going to run it till early part of next year anyway but now I'm wondering if it's a wise decision..? Thanks for the heads up

Yes, I actually had a well known member here "who I respect" so I will not post their name here, who knows Dr Greenthumb very well and indicated he has really good quality seeds. He has grown Dr Greenthumbs strains and had nothing but high praise for them. So I thought hell ya, worth the extra cost per seed. I did not expect a 75%-85% seed failure rate. Needless to say I will never purchase another Dr Greenthumb seed. Especially since they do not want to communicate with their customers, as evident by 3 returned emails....lol

I had lusted after endless sky for a few yrs, finally ordered it, grew the pack out, the hand full of females were all hay, shit garbage, asked the doc and he said i obviously let it grow to long, never saw anything out of those genetics that would be desirable.
Well out of 8 seeds I have one seedling heading in the right direction. I hope the quality is such that this purchase is not a total loss...lol

I have run a number of Dr. Greenthumb lines, I even met him when I purchased 1000 of his Iranian short season, some years back. 998 of the 1000 seeds I purchased from him popped.

I have no complaints about his lines. In regards to him personally, he’s a straight shooter that doesn’t like or deal with BS. Just treat him the way you would want to be treated, and he will treat you back in the same manner.

I have called and talked with him on the phone, Conversation was very short. I guess I am a little like him. I don't make time for folks with attitudes..lol There are too many folks out there with good strains who have no problems talking with their customers and working through issues.

The seeds I got from the doc all popped, just 40/60 when it came to quality... The best I got from him was his cindy 99, and his Dope(no longer sold). Both potent and solid stone. The cindy was trippy and sticky with rock hard buds while the dope had huge colas and hit you hard with a delayed effect.

The others I got were just so so as far as quality (potency, bud structure). That was the Oh Zone which was too airy for me and just a spice to it I did not find favorable I know its described as spicy but hey trial and error on my part with selection. I could not get his OG to form hard buds, may have been my growing skills at the time but it just did not become that killer I was looking for. Lastly, his millennium Bud has never performed well for me.

The good was great and the bad was lackluster, but then again if I got straight fire from one breeder I would not try anything else. Its the seed game ladies and gentlemen. Take your wins the same way you take your losses, don't be discouraged just keep growing. Ill probably still grab stuff from the doc, but only when he does a sale, its just too easy to get good quality from cheaper breeders.

I believe my expectations were way to high. So going into the 21st day trying to get 3 viable seedlings from 8 seeds = 1 seedling "oh zone' very small and frail than normal. The others= No Go.
It is time to move on to other seed strains that I know are viable. Sorry Dr Greenthumb; too many failures for my liking. I have had great luck with Herbie's and Crop King seeds. I guess I will revert back to what I know will germinate with decent results at harvest. I will let the 1 "oh zone" run its course just to see how it ends up. extremely disappointed!

Oh and MSNL seeds have been very good to me as well. Gonna throw in Bubble Gum and Big Blue Cheese strains and try to salvage this grow.

Update: the only seed out of 8 that popped did grow out. Quality: lowest quality strain I have grown so far. Oh Zone= Pretty much a total waste of grow time. The other strains grown along side ---> Very nice quality, good smoke. My guess is I was sent a bad lot of seeds. Emails sent have been ignored.

I ran sour diesel and turkish for the last year and a half, so far I have had 100% germination out of almost all of the seeds planted directly in soil..

I recently received gorilla glue #4, breaks my heart but so far out of 5 seeds only one has popped..

Uggh, ill be happy enough if the one is a great pheno sonce I will just clone it for many years. I am however dissapointed because I should have 3 pheno’s going at the same time, im many weeks apart if I get another seed popped out of the 6 which I have left....

I guess a bad seed is in the hands of mother nature more then the breeder if you ask me, but im still dissapointed lol

merry xmas, I will make a grow journal for the gorilla glue in due time
