Dreams

Having recently taken a break from smoking for a couple of weeks, I've noticed my dreams have become much more vivid and frequent. It feels as though my unconscious mind is able to speak to me in ways that it couldn't while I was smoking weed daily. It made me think there may be some large importance to dreaming that is not well understood. I spoke to a friend about it, a survivor of mass trauma and PTSD, and he said that he smokes in order to ward off the horrific dreams that he otherwise experiences. Can't say that I blame him considering what he's been through, but I do wonder if he's missing out on something.

What is your personal perspective on and experience with dreams and how does smoking interact with them?

Lucid dreaming can be awesome. You can learn how to control them to a certain extent. It's a trip when you're dreaming and realize it's a dream and that you can do whatever you want. Just takes practice to not let your subconscious take over and wake you up because it knows it's not real.

I have vivid dreams, sober or not. But I think they might be more powerful when I'm more sober. I don't know.

I've had some great sex when I was sleeping, :bigjoint:.

And dreams are your subconscious trying to tell you something I think.

interesting. I don't think I've experienced a lot of control during my dreams. I make decisions within them but not generally aware that I'm experiencing a dream. Weird question, but do you think it would be self-inhibiting to "meddle" with the dreams by trying to take control?

No. It's freeing if anything. There's ways to practice, but not everyone can do it. I've always had vivid dreams since I was a kid. I can't usually control them, but it happens quite a bit.

Hey.
Cannabis suppresses dreams. Stopping definitely opens the flood gates. As OP suggests, not dreaming can be the desired goal. Dreams can be real bad and do physical (heart and brain) and psychological damage to a person. What is a dream?
Dreams are sometimes your brain trying to make sense of stuff going on. Like you are watching it act out therapy or learning, and get to see the inner workings of that play out as a movie type thing.
Other dreams are definitely your innermost You trying to tell the everyday you some stuff.
Other dreams are from outside the boundaries of the concept of self. Revelations from divinity. There is a mathematician from India that had dreams of blood drops which was a sign of the goddess he worshipped which led to revelations. He received real world problem solutions in his dreams from a goddess.
Check out the Akashik record. An idea where all of lifes knowledge is recorded and can be accessed. Like a memory of all things past and yet to be.

When I used to smoke all day I would have WILD dreams whenever I took a break.

the hardest part for me the first few weeks was consciously going to sleep. I was so used to just passing out high I had to be like “ok, going to sleep now” or I would stay up all night.

@tyler.durden makes me dream about Penis’
He has the most thought provoking Penis images onsite here …and the stick in my head for better or for worse . I had a dream the other night . It was quite disturbing. Upon awakening I asked myself how could this have come to forition? Recalling the previous days visuals I concluded where the 12 inch penis in my mother came from.
