Long time RDWC guy. Im used to feeding 1.2EC using Jacks 321 diluted to 1.2EC.

Im currently at 2 waterings a day in 1 gal smart pots. Most of the plants are between 8-12"

Issues Im having is they just dont look right. Not sure if im feeding enough, at the right pH or if jacks 321 doesnt work with coco.

Currently at 1.4EC but 0.4EC is my tap. Ive been doing 5.8pH

By not looking right they look light green and the color of green is blotchy. Looks like Mg to me. But I am not 100%

You might be a litlle bit high on EC and low on pH...

Are you diluting the Epsom salt aswell?? Or just the part a and b? When I dilute I still run the Epsom salt full strength. It works for me. Also I ph to 6.0 in coco.

Yeah so i take a gal of distilled water. Take out 12oz so its 116oz and add in 278g Jacks, 93g epsom. Then take another gal of distilled water and take out the same and put 186g calcinit in it.

I then apply 1oz per gal of reservoir.

Today I added 2.5ml/gal Cal Mag Plus from Botanicare I had lying around.

My worry is throwing off my K uptake with such high Ca and Mg being that there is an antagonistic relationship between the 3 elements. I subscribe to the 4:2:1 ratio which is Lucas Formula and Jacks 321. They all come out to 4:2:1

Ok so you are completely diluting. I honestly don't think its a great idea adding calmag. There is already calcium in the part b and magnesium in part a plus in the Epsom salt. If it is a magnesium deficiency then upping the Epsom salt should fix the problem. I would be more concerned of too much calcium adding cal mag and causing a lock out.

hey, so here's a ? for ya:

with Lucas formula, it was better for dwc/flood/drain etc

then came H3AD's formula for coco. slightly different micro/bloom ratio and Epsom

should there be a jacks 321 for hydro versus coco recipe?? or does it cover all the bases of coco and hydro?
i hated coco: i'm a dwc guy .

Should be good for DWC as is. But I have zero experience with DWC!!! I've read that PPM levels/ratios actually in solution for DWC has challenges....between res changes.

Techno on PPM in solution.

From my coco experience, even though I prep my coco well, I usually need a little more Ca early on in veg to prevent defs going into flower. I assume partially because coco can rob some of the Ca. I'm also running fairly high performance lights and Co2. (I've gone a bit rouge, running a hybrid jacks mix this run - playing with differerent NPK ratios) For me, ph of 6.2ish is best to prevent Mg defs.

DWC has no coco to rob Ca from your solution!

How much Ca can coco really rob tho? I feel like after a few waterings, the CEC is stabilized.

The biggest issue I see Jacks growers have is when they try to modify their EC or rations throughout the grow. I find Jacks in coco works best in the 1.3 EC range (give or take .1EC) from start to finish, with the 321 ratio all the way through, although I do usually cut the EC in half for the last week before harvest.
