I am not surprised.

I bought into the full GOLD A & B, plus all their supplements

I had the damnedest time getting accurate useful answers to my questions

I then decided to use just their Grow A & B @ 5 liter jugs, and mix with the left over 1 liter jugs of supplements

To say the least it's a bit of a pain to mix 4-5 different jugs each time I made up nutes

I then came across a KISS thread on IC and ordered a sample of Hydroponic Research VEG+BLOOM. I ran an A v B and have not looked back. V&B is a ONE part dry formula. I hate paying for water, particularly at current shipping costs

What powdered nutes do you use scroga?
Ahh it is called.. General hydroponics ,Maxigrow( 10,5,14)
Think I might just swap out for some good old tomato food, once this is all gone..that well be a while but...comes in a1kg bag !

I worked in a hydro shop occasionally to help a friend. One of his best customers who was a BIG grower [by my standards at any rate] confided that he no longer used hydro specific nutrients. He'd run out of the fancy expensive stuff that he'd used for years over the xmas break so he used a bag of powdered gardening [for vegetable crops] nutes, just for an emergency feed. He noticed how good the girls looked a few days later so he used the same bog standard veggie food again & again. That's all he uses now. All additives are bog standard gardening supplies as natural as he can find. Like molasses for the carbs for instance. Reckons he saves thousands of dollars a year & his girls have never looked better.
I guess that reflects his experience, his understanding & knowledge of nutrients & his plants.
There's a lesson in that for all of us. :)

There was a recipe here on Riu for a molasses & vegemite concoction [probably an Aussie thread] I bet it works just as well as most 'must have' commercial products that supply the same ingredients. I recently received a box of you beaut expensive nute additives gratis. I had to research what was what so that I didn't double-up on something & burn/kill my girls. From what I worked out, most of the stuff found in this stuff is easily sourced & much cheaper from the supermarket or gardening store. One of the bottles was 'Liquid Carbo Load' by Advanced Nutrients. It's contents are 'Glucose, Xylose, Aribinose, Maltose. $25 on e-bay....or, from what I gather, I can get some black-strap molasses for a fraction of the price that also contains bio-available magnesium, vit-B6, potassium & calcium that will do the same job if not better.
From what I've read, one of the most experienced growers here on Riu, uses basic nutes including slow release osmocote & his plants are so healthy & delicious.
Although I've been successfully growing small grows, usually 3-5 plants, on & off for twenty years, I've learnt quite a bit in the short time I've been here on Riu. Listening to the much more experienced guys here I've realised that I need to fill the gaps in what I know & get a thorough understanding of nutrients, plant requirements & learning to 'read ' my girls better, to begin with off-course. There's only 2 reasons why I've never had a major failure [touch wood] 1- I was shown how to grow one crop from start to finish by an experienced grower before I started. 2-I've always kept it as simple as possible.

I'm now smoking my delicious White Shark [it's why I'm rambling :) :) :) :) yes, it's that good] What are my fellow Aussies getting into?
