havent seen a thread on this and if im in the wrong subforum let me know. so i have a background in economics. i am not rich, but i am not poor; what i am is self made (kinda......in other words im not living under a bridge yet)

you too can be self made. that is the awesome thing about america, you can take what you want so long as you have the ability and drive (and having a drive is the ability!)

i havent seen any threads regarding stocks, investment strategies, land, or...................how to make, keep and move your money without being noticed (this last part is a good problem to have, aka if you have enough money to worry about concealment you are doing better than most americans lol).

what is yalls strategy for financial success? most of what i have learned occurred when i was ten or so; dad gave me a copy of this

basic book. written in the 20s by clason after wells fargo commission him to write a series of pamphlets to get folks interested in banks (this was back when a bank might actually offer you a service rather than working for themselves, SEC, FED, etc.)

from this book, other sources, and my own life experience i have a few basic rules to follow

1) if you arent employed, your job is to look for a job
2) money saved is money earned
3) save 10% of everything you earn and never spend it
4) pay your debts first
5) if you cant pay your debts right away, approach your lenders and attempt to organize a payment strategy to get you out of the whole. (these are capital lenders, im am not referring to subrogation specialists or bill collectors for medical stuff, they can go fuck themselves 99 out of 100 times)
6) make the money you save work for you (aka invest)
7) have a safety net (mine is 6 months of rent and expenses out) after the safety net is created you can invest more freely
8) take advice from experts in their field and get multiple opinions. this is a stupid important rule. i am NOT AN EXPERT, DONT JUST LISTEN TO ME, DO THE RESEARCH YOURSELF!!!!!

pretty basic stuff. what has worked well for you in the past?

I have several things going on, but the basic thing is spend less than you earn. Living within your means is necessary. Lots of options past that.
