finding dry buds on live plants

I just found a dried bud on my outdoor Durban poison and its the best bud ive had in a while. anyone else experience surprises like this or is this like a rarity?

Just remember, every time good fortune like that happens, somebody, somewhere, at a party takes a guzzle of what they thought was their beer and swallows a cigarette butt.

Without that karmic balance, the universe would explode.

Had that happen once. It ended up being mold that killed the stem and eventually dried out the bud. Break it open under a light and see if you can see any wisps of spores coming out (kinda looks like smoke).

Bud rot can look like dried out bud.
