First full on coco grow

As the title suggests etc. in the past sunshine #4 advanced is generally my goto. I switched to coco because I like the similarities to hydroton. In that it can’t be overwatered relatively speaking. My question is regarding veg. I’m 10 days in w rooted cuttings all nice and beginning to put on growth. I’ve watered only 2x with run off so far because that’s all they seem to need. Can I water/ feed more in spite of the pots having adequate moisture? I’ve only got peat based substrates to compare to. Those like a nice dry back. Is that necessary with coco or rather recommended? I hear and read people watering several times a day during peak growth/ flowering times.
I suck at communicating sometimes so does anyone know what I’m getting at here? Thanks ahead for bearing w me.

And no sooner did I hit the post button than I saw the tips and techniques for coco newbs. my bad.

No dry back,root bound do much better at daily feeds.So your call,sometimes your just wasting nutes but feed on no worries.

Okay I hear ya. Are you saying right from the day after transplanting your newly rooted clones? Hit em every day w some run off w zero dry backs?

Okay cool. I was concerned w soggy roots not enough oxygen but that’s not an issue your saying.

In early stages I keep them wet with a syringe no run off, ime it (to wet) holds them back when young.

solo cup can go a few days,roots will grow really fast.Up pot in increments so solo 1 g then final in 3 gallon.ea transplant will take a few days to fill with roots so those days you can skip.

Okay yes I gotcha. Use some judgment hear and there but the main point I think I got water on don’t freak out about root rot etc but be aware.

Pre charge the coco with calmag before transplant .

Yes on the pre-charge. Some of the brands claim “pre-buffered” but I did it just the same. You ever get mold looking stuff like this?

What about 1 gal sea of green? Coco a good media for the likes of that?

Yes judging by tip burn too much food or not enough runoff.edit or very hard water.

Yes I thought salts but only 2 waterings I noticed it a couple days after transplanting. I’ve never seen salt build up so quick! I’m only on 1.2 EC 600 ppm

yes but will need a good drain to waste system.Most fail at coco because of poor runoff collecting you need a tray elevated so gallons of runoff flows easily away

That tip burn your seeing is nothing new. Just petered out leaves I haven’t gotten around to removing. They sat a bit longer than I’d have liked before transplanting. Runoff using clear water is only at 409 ppm. No tip burn on any newer growth.

Excellent advice. I noticed the water runs right through that shit like a freight train!

coco is tough in pots with saucers like in dirt.Doomed right at the start.
