First time grower needing advice.

Hello everyone i have a few questions i would like to have answered. The more i read the more i get confused. There are so many different answers concerning growing.

On march 2nd I started germinating 7 seeds in a dome using soil peats and 3 T5 bulbs two emerged (the largest) a week later I transferred them into solo cups. During this time 3 more seeds sprouted and I transferred two in solo cups also, the last i put in a cut soda bottle as it was a late bloomer. On the 14th I switched from 3 T5’s to a 300w vistaspectra (aka burple) and started noticing they were not growing. From what ive read I probably shocked them during transplant and the change of light, so i let them be . On the 20th I noticed them growing again and as of today they has seem fine after a few hiccups.

My questions are:

1) Should I leave them to grow more in the cups to not shock them again?
2) Should I transfer them to their final 3 gallons pots?
3) Should i add more white light “Now” to encourage more growth? ( I’ve read the 300w burple is actually 130w)

I order and am waiting these mars hydro lights to replace the burple.

Setup

2.5x2.5x5 gorilla tent
300w burple
Mother earth terrecraft soil
Water ph 6.5
First 2wks 24/0, changed to 18/6 schedule on the 14th.

If your plants are healthy then transplanting shouldn't really be much of an issue just doit as gently as possible id give the 2 small ones few more days if not weeks an if ya got bigger pots ready id not stress but transplanting is never a bad thing they love a new space to get up an going just foliar spray them with some rizo or something to aid in the shock an dont over water they be good as id say

The easiest thing is to not transplant them at all and start them in the pot they will finish in.

Seedlings tend to grow faster in smaller pots (solo cups). There is a rule of thumb though, it’s better to transplant early than to transplant too late. Both have risk. Early you run the risk of damaging fragile roots, late you run the risk of them becoming rootbound. I recently transplanted a Blueberry by seedsman a little early but happened to be very careful (cut the solo cup as to not disturb the roots), she ended up not skipping a beat and growing vigorously as she still is today even after I gave her her first topping at the 5th node. I put her in a 3 gallon fabric and kept her under the CFL’s she was already under for 2 days then switched her to the LED setup that will grow her out until harvest. These plants are resilient and as long as you keep them in a good growing environment you won’t have much issue. IMO, ditch the blurples. You want a good full spectrum LED. Later on in flowering you can even supplement deep red LED spectrum if you want.

I’d transplant the bigger ones soon. If you see roots peaking out of the bottom holes, it’s time.

Thanks for the info. I have one more of many questions. Im using distilled water and the two bigger ones are in mother earth groundswell soil. From my understanding it have nutes for 30 days. Should i use that soil with nutes or no nutes and just transplant in terracraft no nute soil

I transplant very early at times. I’ve never had root problems from it. No damage even though I manually break up any balling and again manually spread the roots out while sprinkling with Mykos WP. Occasionally one will act slow but within a day it’s going again.

As long as the soil isn’t a timed release soil then go for it. Most nutrient ready soils will last for the majority of your veg time, and you will only need to begin feeding your plants when you see the leaves begin to yellow meaning they are lacking nitrogen. If you plan on training them a lot, make sure you have veg nutes as you will likely need to veg then longer than your soils will support, if you are doing a short veg then you might only need blooming nutes and boosters
