First time grower / rate my setup

Hello everyone,

After years and years of watching people growing their own, I finally pulled the trigger as soon as I moved into my own place. Based on all those observations, I placed my orders on a setup what I think should be sufficient but got some minor questions. If you could comment on equipment I picked up and answer any of the question, that would be greatly appreciated.

Please keep in mind that I'll be solely growing autos.

Here's the stuff I bought:

Tent

Lights (2 pieces, 600x2)

Fan

Filter

1- Is this light I picked up sufficient? I initially ordered one of the 900W one, then switched to two 600W ones. How close can I keep them to my plants? Does veg/bloom switches do any good for auto plants or should I just keep both on at all times? I plan on going 19/5 light cycle from start to finish.

2- Light control. I see that people are using complicated devices to control their light cycles. I was thinking of getting two smart plugs for each led that can be controlled via WiFi in case I need to leave the house for a day or two. Is this a bad idea? I don't even think I need to daisy chain but then again, total noob here.

3- Will this filter remove the odor completely? And how long would it last if I run the fan at all times about 350CFM (which I think is the recommended amount for 120x120 tents.

4- Would it be a bad idea to mix different strains in one grow cycle? I plan on starting with 5 pots (2x gorilla glue, and the other three are a mix of freebies they sent).

5- Nutrients & soil. These two I'll need to retrieve from local stores. I went to a couple of stores but couldn't find any of the brands that are widely recommended/used on forums. Soil doesn't seem to be that complicated, I'll be using regular soil and all of the local brands have PH values on their packages but nutrients are like a black hole. Different variety of brands have different variety of nutrients and I just don't know what to pick, how and how much should I use them.

These are my main concerns but I am pretty sure I'll have a couple more as soon as I get started. Thanks in advances sirs and madams, guess I'll see you on my grow journey post :)

Best,

Thank you guys so much! I cancelled the order immediately.

Looking on your german amazon I found this light that would be way better. Not sure if you can get the LED lights from Timber, HLG, Gavita... This would be ten times better for your tent than the lighting you had selected.

Lumatek one is simply a bit too expensive for me.

Junk lights. For 331 euro you can get this and it’ll rock that tent you’re getting.

Meijiu is reasonably priced but alibaba or aliexpress doesn't ship to my location :/

What do you guys think of Spider Farmer SF1000? I can buy it from Amazon but if I do, I have two addition questions. First, would it be okay to start with just one piece in a 4x4 tent and add another one later on? Or would just one be too insufficient given the tent size?

I am not a fan of the Spider Farmer but it is a lot better light than the original selection. Avoid blurples. You would need 4 of those SF1000 lights to run that tent each covering a 2 foot by 2 foot area. If you go with less light and manage to keep the plant within that space then yeah you could add lights later but it is rarely easy to just use 1/4 or 1/2 of the tent. Spreading the light too thin will result in unsatisfactory production.

Oh I see. I don't feel like I need to fill up the tent on my first grow. My plan was to start with 5 but in this case I can just go just two, all I want is to just start growing and see what it's like to grow and learn as much as possible.

Last two questions if you don't mind sir. Would there be any difference if I bought 4x SF1000s or a single SF4000? Other than SF4000 being more practical as it's a single piece of equipment?

Second, how close can I put the lights on the plant? There are lumen values for 30cm, 60cm etc. Does that mean 30cm above the plant is the closest?

4 lights would give you better/even coverage on the whole grow space. Mind you the SF4000 is just 4 lights connected

but they are too close together IMO.
with 4x 1000s you could space yhem
Out better and get rid of the super high PPFD hot spot in the middle.

as for PPFD rating for the lights. It’s in the photos on their website.

you want to be 800-1000ppfd peak and no less the 600ppfd on the outer edges.

that’s my opinion which will differ from many in sure
