First time in coco got some spots?

She looks pretty healthy! If the same spots get bigger, than it might be a deficiency or lock out, but if the same tiny marks keep appearing here and there maybe use a 60x loupe and check for eggs or pests. Maybe a stray gnay got in, had a snack, and is gone or died

edit: or buy a yellow sticky trap and see if anything sticks to it after a day or two.

I did find a bug in there this morning. I work in greenhouses so it happens. I try to strip down and clean up as soon as I walk in the door but sometimes it doesn’t stop them. I did just recheck my ec and ppms and they are wayyy outta wack. Ppms are 744 and ec is 1488. That sounds wayyy high. The temp in the Rez is 68f

On two of the lower fan leaves I have some little spots. New growth looks healthy. I’m using roots organic soiless hydroponic mix with coco and perilite and canna coco a and b. Ph is 5.9. Ppms are like 340.
Looks like thrip damage to me. Or if the spots start turning brown could be early signs of calcium deficiency maybe, but more likely pests.

Yeah I just saw one bigger flying bug. Killed it and put a sticky strip up. I was thinking calcium too because I’m not adding cal mag.

It doesn't look like Calcium def yet and certainly no Magnesium def. could be some mechanical damage ie the spotting but that lower leaf looks like Thrip damage. I us Monterey Spinosad. But you can wait and see if you get more of those white/silvery trails to be sure.

I used the canna coco a and b at quarter strength with dechlorinated tap water. Idk how my ppms went up from when I started. I’m new at keeping a large mix for an extended period of time. Does that mean it’s drinking the water but not taking the nutrients? How do I get that back where it needs to be or is it ok? No one said anything about the numbers and really the plant looks super healthy and vigorous to me so maybe I’ll just wait and see.

Going at .25 strength you do need to make sure your cal/mag ratio is good.

I found this a number of years back, have added to it to suit my needs but it is fairly accurate.

LESS IS MORE

200 ppm of a + b for veg. is plenty.
350 ppm of a + b for flower is plenty.

CaliMagic/Canna A&B ratio
150 ppm/200 ppm = 350
100 ppm/300 ppm = 400
50 ppm/ 400 ppm= 450

Here is a chart the gives the ratios of Calcium in given ppm of A&B.
This Calcium information is purely based on a Canna schedule, using CaliMagic. Once you hit around 700 ppm, Canna base nutes, you no longer need Cal/mag additives.

This is based on slightly rough math but is very close to correct, in my experience.

A&B
3 ml/gal = .4 EC = 200 ppm with around 44 ppm of calcium
4.5 ml/gal = .6 EC = 300 ppm with around 66 ppm of calcium
6.2 ml/gal = .8 EC = 400 ppm with around 88 ppm of calcium
7.7 ml/gal = 1 EC = 500 ppm with around 112 ppm of calcium
9.2 ml/gal = 1.2 EC = 600 ppm with around 135 ppm of calcium.

I use GH Cal/Magic and I believe the recommended rate is 3.5 ml (1 tsp/5 ml)/gallon. I use Canna Coco's line of nutrients but I back off of their recommended rates, as I feel they are way high. For example, in veg I will add only 200 ppm of A&B and in flower 350 ppm. Now these rates do not give me the Cal ratio needed. You need around 150 ppm of calcium alone.....so even if when I'm at 200 ppm if I only added 100 ppm of Calimagic, only 75 is calcium so I would still be a tad short. In flower, I use RO (55 ppm of Cal/Mag), to this I add 0.75 ml Cal/Magic (68 ppm) and 0.5 grams Epsom (63 ppm) per gallon to bring my #'s to 131 ppm, below the 150 ppm needed, That's without the 55 ppm of the RO, then begin adding the base nutrients. But I have been working with this and it seems ok. I believe it has to do with the 55 ppm of Cal/Mag that is added back to my RO water.

pH of 5.8 and let it drift to 6.0 to 6.1. Drip Clean for the win, helps clean the root system of excess nutes and keeps you nozzles clean.

Hope this makes sense!

What do you mean your PPM's went up? Describe how you are measuring this. Are you doing drain to waste?

No I have an autopot system with a 12 gallon Rez. It’s gravity fed and floods a tray every time it dries out. I mixed 5 gallons up at 1/4 strength and ph downed it to 5.9-6.0. It’s used maybe 2 gallons of that and when I put it in The ppms and ec read much lower. I have a tds/ec meter and a ph meter both calibrated
