Off to the islands off of Parry hoot today. :). Hence my name GB....... Georgian Bay.
Been going there since I was 14 and have fished the bay my entire life...
Every species.............. close to home ;)
Very fortunate we are!

Sounds like fun, but it'd be a bit of a trek for me! I've only been out once this year in the ocean - no time and they closed most of the salmon fishing around the island to help the killer whales. They need to cull about a million sea lions and seals instead!
Bottom fishing is always good though. ..if anyone is planning a Gulf Island fishing trip? lol crabs, prawns, Rockfish, ling cod, red snapper, and even halibut are a few hundred feet offshore and I've never come back empty-handed.

Hello chaps I'm new to the forum I realise this is an older post, I'm wondering if there's a dedicated fishing post/thread/place?

I'm on the other side of the pond I love trout and salmon fishing and a joint while doing it, in the Uk your automatically regarded as a scumbag if you smoke weed, not to mention growing it ;-)
America seems a lot more open minded on the subject.

Welcome to RIU Star Dog, those who regard pot smokers as scum bags make me laugh. I personally would consider anyone that judgmental to be the scum bags but that's just me. Glad you found the site. I am in Canada and nice to see folks from all over the world here. I am not aware of a fishing thread here but I may have just not come across it. That said if you have interest in one by all means start one, I am sure others will check it out. :peace:

Not sure about spawn beds but reminds me of pike fishing when the ice is just starting to melt and the back bays open up the pike come cruising for bait fish in the bays with open water. Great trophy fishing.

Yet almost every single one of you limey buggers I've met in Canada loves to get high. ;)

I put the English cousin of a friend of mine on his first sturgeon when he was over here visiting. It was 58 inches long. He didn't stop grinning for the rest of the trip.

Welcome!

I have been known to fish..a couple of times... though i'm more well known known as auger lol
well GB knows anyways...lol

I fish daily for the most part. Live on the banks of a river, have easy access to northern Canadian fishing lakes. I usually make 5 or 6 BIG trips a year up north in rather manitoba, Saskatchewan or Ontario. 10 or more shorter trips, few days type deal. If i am going on a long trip, I prefer manitoba or sask. Less people, better fishing imo. Depending on lake my favs are pike and lakers. If you ever get into sask though try the Saskatchewan river for walleye. You can drive to it. Amazing. All 5 of the biggest walleyes i have ever caught were caught on the same day out of Tobin, plus 2 pike over 18 lbs one over 25 on that same day. That trip was worth the money.

I wana go for arctic char up in the tundra. Smoked char is fucking amazing and the fish look so beautiful.
