FloraFlex Pot Pro

Who: Howdy fam! Been lurking on this forum for over a decade. This is my first thread, but you can find me on Instagram ( @Liberty_Hoonigan ) for more photos and information about my grow.

What: I'm starting this thread to document my experience with a product that is new to me. The pot pro system by Floraflex was designed in collaboration with Char Coir (personal opinion follows) to compete directly with Grodan for their large commercial grower market share.

Why: I started with hand watering 3 gal smart pots of coco coir. I love coco as a substrate. I noticed I didn't need the volume, so for the last few runs, I've been using 1 gal nursery pots with excellent results. Then I saw some insane rootballs out of these little 6x6x6 pots and even 6" rockwool cubes. Since I use floraflex manifolds to automate flower waterings, why not try these?

How: Let's start with what strain we will be using for trials; 818 Headband from The Cali Connection. I've been growing my cut of this strain for close to 2 years and know her pretty well. I have 18 clones rooted in a DIY aeroponics cloner, thanks stinkbud! For the substrate, I will be using the Char Coir cubes made for this system. Young plants will be hand watered on a 2x4 tray in a 4x4x7.5 foot Gorilla tent for about 4 weeks of vegetative growth under 120w DIY HLG quantum board LED lighting. The same 18 plants will then get moved to a 3x6 foot tray in the flower room for 8-9 weeks of blooming under two 600w air cooled HPS lights. Flower will be the most interesting part as I have it automated already with other floraflex bits. Dry down times will be interesting to note. It should be said that unless you have a lot of time to tend to your garden, I personally wouldn't recommend smaller pots without automation.

Misc: My veg tent is full, so clones will be stuck in the cloner for another week before I have the room to start this experiment. Has anyone else used these? Is anyone else interested? Follow along either way for some fun and learning!

The universe works in strange ways sometimes guys and gals. The pot pro test is also a trial for Floraflex nutrients, which I'm happy to report arrived today. Their nutrient line is a 2 part, technically 4 part, powdered system; consisting of 2 parts for vegetative growth and 2 parts for flowering. I recently (March) switched from Botanicare Kind to Veg+Bloom, so naturally I'm excited to compare the two products. Monday looks to be the day we embark on this journey, stay safe over the weekend so we can start it together!

Happy Monday y'al! Yesterday we harvested and reset our flower room to make space in the veg tent for this experiment. All 18 clones had wonderful roots before we transplanted into the FloraFlex system. I do hand water my veg tent, for now and I can already say I like the caps a lot for even distribution.20180514_081456.jpg 20180514_092054.jpg

Following!! Can't wait to see updates and final results. I myself too, love coco in small pots. I started big at first and then worked my way down. I have the same system still boxed up, your thread is pushing an me to unbox early :D Good Luck LIB
Thanks for checking this thread out! I definitely encourage using this system if you're already familiar with how small pots work.

I'm back with the end of week 1 update. Let's jump right into it.

So I hand watered each pot 500ml per feeding, and I did this every other day for the first week or so to encourage the roots to spread. They have all been fed a heavy diet of floraflex nutrients at an EC of 2.2 with the PH settling around 6.2. These readings are at 4 grams per gal of each of the 2 parts. This is a new nutrient line, so there isn't a lot of information publicly available. Even though the EC seems a little high, I'm showing zero signs of burn or distress. In fact, veg growth has been very steady.

I was looking at those things but they seemed like they are for growing lots of tiny plants, they might be ok for someone with high plant count

It is pretty much a sea of green system, though you can grow trees if you stack them on slabs or larger pots.
They work on larger containers like a 30 gal fabric pot? Been looking towards an automated watering setup, i think blumats fit me best but i was looking at these too but they seem way undersized for my application .

In reference to what part of the system? All of it, or just one individual component? The pots have plenty of open space on the bottom for roots to come. The caps would probably be a bit small for a single plant in that size container.

Now that you clarified, these are probably too small, but they make larger round caps that could fit the bill.

How is coco in those containers? Does it clog the drain?
Not sayin they're designed for coco but they're designed for coco. They come with coco blocks for each pot.
They are indeed designed for maximum drainage with coco. I don't have drain fittings installed on these trays at the moment, I use a shop vac to pick up the run off. The only time I've noticed a significant mess with these pots, as far as coco coming out the bottom, is on the initial hydration.
