"flowering time"

So I know some of you may think this is a stupid question an that's fine. I'm new an got to learn so I'm asking. I'm on my second run my first was okay but I felt it could have been much much better. An the reason being is I think I harvested too early. I'm confused on this whole "flowering time" thing seeing as how I've seen that terminology as well as "time to harvest" an a couple others. I mean is this to be taken literal? Like is flowering time just that? The time it's spent in flower from the moment it pops its first few pistils? Or is the veg time also considered into this "flowering time"? I'm running autos an some say flowers in 56-70 days..There's so much info out there an seems to be alot of Bs..so any actual help would be awesome thanks!

Flowering time starts when the shoots stack up and begin piling on hairs (easy as I can explain in case you don't know other terminology).

Flowers in 56 - 70 days is an average age from seed to automatically switch from veg to flower. The flowering time starts as stated above.

Yes, there is a lot of bs out there in regards to flowering time. Some say xx days to flower others xx days to harvest.
Xx days to flower means just that, I've got one auto strain that takes 45 days till she starts flowering and another that only takes 70 days from seed to harvest. It is all strain dependent.

Edit: breeder's suggested timelines are in perfect growing conditions. Most of us home growers don't have the money to get our grow perfect, so it will take us a bit longer

Have you finished one of the autos that goes from seed to harvest in 70 yet? Curious on the quality and quantity at finish.

Have to look at your seed bank where u got just to see what the say their data is. It’s usually longer than what they say. Most I see start to flower in four weeks and from what I have been experienced autos finish in 10-12 weeks from sprout to harvest

I have and it got caterpillars soooooo no quality or quantity to report. I'll smoke tiny bugs but if I bust open a bud and see a damned worm, I'm out, period.
I am waiting on one to germinate right now, and have a much bigger light so whatever she did last time shouldn't compare. Also I didn't time her so again breeder vs. hobbyist. She was quick but I fucked her up a lot also.

I always figure that 56-70 days is a "window" to harvest, if you harvest closer to the 56 days, it gives a greener more THC stone, while harvesting towards the 70 day gives you more of a CBD "couch lock" stone.

So I am going to assume that with this variety that the happy median is 60 days which will give me THC and CBD at even rates.

I have done both Auto and Photo and honestly... I don't see my "Flowering" times arriving any quicker with autos. The "Harvest" time was as usual, not within the stated amount of time. I have far from "perfect" conditions so it seems to take much longer no mater if it's an auto or photo. Patience is a requirement for a grower.

Don't ever look at what the breeder says for "flower time" and assume your grow will be anything close to that time frame.

Don't mark a calendar and say...it will be done around this time....you will only disappoint yourself.

Just plant the plant. Give it the best life it can have. Watch it grow. Watch it mature, and when it looks done, check it. If it is done then it is done. If not...another week check again.

And yes autos are faster than photo by a couple weeks. Autos dont have a transition period when you flip the lights.

An auto will get full size and finish in 3 months from seed. Take 3.5-4 months for a photo to get the same size imo.

But the auto has some bad genetics bred into it so sometimes you get a dud.
