Fox Farm Soil = Bugs of all sorts

The problem I have seen with Fox Farm bagged soils is they are sourced from different places in the country depending on where you live. The QC isn't the greatest, and for what you pay isn't worth it. Better off using Pro-mix HP and amending it yourself in my experience.

Cheers alwaysgreen420 & beuffer420 will look into that now, only got Interested in Grandma Enggy's F-1 & Grandma Enggy's H-2 because of reading about it in another Thread...but if I can get same Results with Ancient Earth then will go with that.

I like to read up a bit about Products and ask peeps before parting with my money...not Tight...but my Budget is...Lol and can't afford to make stupid mistakes because I didn't check the product out properly...or ask/see what peeps are saying.

Peace

:weed:
as as far mistakes go, if you learn from them that's what is important. My mistakes is what made me learn how to do things better:)
i totally feel ya though, if you don't have to make them from learning from ours, it's that much better!

This makes sense.

As far as seeing anythin in the soil before you plant in it or atleast moisten it pretty hard to tell if you have bugs because i am pretty sure gnat eggs are dormant until proper moisture levels are met to hatch. The reason i stopped using it is because of the occasional bag of bugs ( could have very well been storage problems) and it compacts a fair amount in the container by the end of the grow.

I used FF for my first 3 grows, and all had issues with fungus gnats and thrips. Switched to DWC and have not had any bug infestations of gnats. Not using FF again as it gave me a headache having to treat for these fungus gnats.

Beware of Fox Farm. I consult for a number of grows including dispensary grows. One thing I have learned is everyone using Fox Farm soil is having problems with fungus gnats and various other mites of several species.

For what it's worth I won't ever revommend this stuff.
Maybe you just don't know what your doing been using fox farm for five years know and all the fox farm fertalizers if u go on there website and actually follow there feeding instructions u won't get the nats and put some perlite in your fox farm for extra drainage I have never had Nats or mold my last six plants yielded over 9 pounds all together so your just doing something wrong I have done indoor and out foxfsrm is the only way to go best soil around for drainage and u don't have to add anything for at least three weeks old wish we could post photos ill show u my new plants have yet to use anything but water just have fox farm and perlite and in 3 weeks the plants are already about two feet around and and about almost 2 feet tall I topped and flipped mine two times already the key to getting your soil to dry nicely and to get no bugs is to make sure your lights hit all the way to the soil not just from the top of your plants by some led bulbs and aim the at the base of the plant they encourage root growth and it will widen the stalk twice as fast to give u a sturdy plant and the lights will kill the nats I have honestly never ounce have gotten any type of nats or fruit flies and I just grow my bud in a spare bedroom no tent just racks and led lights with a few fans keep the door to the house open and the window a crack and u get perfect air flow

No......they're not. "Some" of course..."everybody"? No way
Been using fox farm 5 years fertalizers and everything follow there schedule u don't get bugs and also make sure your lights hit your soil as well I have led bulbs that light the bottom of my plants and hit the soil and the nats can't produce them but I have yet to ever have a problem with fox farm live in arizona and my plants will yield in the 110 degree heat when using fox farm fertalizers and soil and inside my last six plants yielded close to 8 pounds I would say fox farm is probably one of the best growing mediums just add a little perlite. For extra drainage and your all set I support fox farm all day.

I used them and had a massive fungus gnat infestation. I liked their ferts, but the soil came with free bugs =(
Its probably just the place u by it from I've been using it for over 5 years as long as it comes dry I have never seen any bugs or have had a problem with getting any bugs you have to make sure where your buying it doesn't let there soils get wet it messes them up I only buy from dealers who keep there soils indoor or completely covered from rain this way no bugs grow in them. Just a little tip. My last six plant yield with only fox farm products straight down to the soil yielded me an indoor crop of close to 8 pounds my colas wher hitting my 7 foot ceilings and I topped my plants three time in two months two make them bushy also if u trim your fan leaves helps the light get all the way to the soil and u will definitely not get any bugs then.

I have never used any of there products.... However, I am very wary of those that may have an axe to grind and .... since you

I find that you or any other 'consultants' that say this about a product...could be liable for [damages] in the real word if you used the product and then disparaged it this way...

Just like those that speak too highly about a product, and those that dis a product....

I add a grain of salt...and realize that any soil based product that is transported and or stored outside, is subject to bugs...

For what's it worth ? "It's worth" you mean your opinion? What is it worth? What is your opinion worth?

Have a great day Snaps... Just saying, hyperbole ....
Sand 4x 105 you are completely correct these people by there soils from places that store them outside to get rained on thats when u get your bugs i use fox farm for every grow the last five years never a problem but I buy from a nursey that stores there soils indoors so they don't get wet and attract those bugs these people are talking about and the fungus they have is probably from lack of drainage I add perlite and never had a fungus problem even if I have over watered I love how people just diss companies just cause they don't know how to use the product or they have a bad opinion about it fox farm is probably one of the best lines out there they have everything and I can't say anything bad about there products my last yield was indoor and I got close to 8 pounds on 6 plants I wish I could post photos so some of these people see what fox farm could do when u use it right.

For the purposes of this thread I am not recommending an alternative, this is a subject for another thread.

As far as my stating "everyone" I do mean those I have consulted for.

Yes I understand the possibility of contamination but poor packaging would be to blame imo as this is not an isolated incident in time or by user.

If you want to take these experiences seriously you should do a drench with something to kill off anything hanging out in the soil. Probably a good idea for any soil.
I got an idea you should probably stop consulting when u drench your soils your washing all the nutrients out of them the whole point is to grow clean pot with good soil like fox farm i go 6 weeks with zero fertalizers yield almost on average a pound a plant indoor and all I use is fox farm I just think u don't like fox farm and are trying to sell something else cause you have no clue what your talking about you get the bugs from people who don't store there soils correctly like keeping them out door or on the ground you should only be bying soils stored indoor free from the environment I have been using fox farms soils for years and never had any problems with bugs actually I dont even think I can remember a time I saw a bug on any of my indoor grows even opening the windows to air out the room a bit has not attracted anything but a fly or two maybe try reading up about how to store your soils and you won't be getting bugs kinda like messing with a dirty women u stay away you stay clean.

Amended Happy frog is my base....never a bug problem.
Yes sir hear either 5 years of use never a problem at all with growth bugs or otherwise usually these people getting the bugs is cause they re doing something wrong or bought crap soil that was stored in the rain or out in a field where it attracts bugs.

Way to hijack a 7 year old thread.

Also, in the future, think about using punctuation.

Thank you.
I don't even read posts with such poor grammar. But from what I skimmed they sound like an FF salesman. Maybe the poor writing is intended to hide their true identity.

I'll say anything I want.

I don't need to resort to name calling. Your grammar says it all. There is also the FACT that your first seven posts are all replies to comments that are seven years old. But I guess that's not stupid now is it? Have a good day Einstein.

depends where you get it from and where/how they store it. thats why i dont use ff. had too many issues with bugs and such
granted you can get the same thing from any soil that was improperly stored etc.
