Fox farm trio

Hey everyone, this year I'm using the fox farm trio with my plants for the first time. I know the feeding schedule on their website is not for cannabis since they suggest you start adding nutes right from week 1. I will be growing white widow, amnesia haze, strawberry cough, super skunk, and aurora India using fox farm ocean forest from start to finish. Any insight on when I should start the feeding cycle and how much I should start with I've heard 1/4 the recommended amount is a good place to start. Also anything else you would recommend using? Thanks!!

It is not an easy question. Most will say that the ff trio is not a good way to go for growing MJ. I no longer use them but that is not to discourage you, it is a great learning process.
You will get a variety of answers as some love ffof soil and some not so much.
I have used them all and still use ffof soil mixed with other soils. I'm in the group of people who like it.
I can tell you what I would likely do because it always depends on the plant and environment.
I would use water only for the 1st 4 weeks then I would feed 75% of the recommended dose of the Big Bloom. Big Bloom is safe to feed where the other two you have to be careful with. Tiger Bloom will not be needed till flowering and should be a low dose in early flower then gradually increased. I never really used the Grow Big. Using Grow Big to soon can also be a problem if it is not yet needed in ffof.
There are lots of ways to get great results. You can definitely do it with those ferts and soil.
Happy Growing!

Hey thanks for the reply. Is there a different brand or trio of nutrients that you would recommend I use rather than starting with the fox farm trio? I'm open to using others i just thought I'd grab the same brand as the soil I was using. Also what other soils do you mix with ffof to get the best results. I've heard people adding perlite to ffof. I'm still a little nervous the ffof will be too hot for the seedlings I haven't had trouble in the past but I know some people have. Is there a different soil you think I should use all together?

I'll mix ffof with my own soil mixes that were previously used and amended. I also mix in some Pro Mix and some ff Happy Frog, maybe some peat, perlite and compost as needed, whatever feels right, then read the plants needs as things develop. There are endless mixes and recipes that work as long as you have a good balance of nutrients and good healthy colonies of microbes.
FFOF is great to start with, adding 10-20% perlite makes it better and easier not to over water as it drains better.
With soil if you want to grow organic you would not use Grow Big or Tiger Bloom, they have synthetic ferts in them. A good place for you to study would be to read up on the differences between synthetic fertilizers and organic fertilizers.
If I were you I'd go with the ffof and perlite and focus on how to use fertilizers 1st. Less is more with fertilizer. It's easier to fix a plant that is under fertilized than it is to fix a plant that is over fertilized.
This site is always useful and might be a good place to start.

Thanks a ton, that's a huge help. I'l start doing some more research into fertilizers. I'm thinking I'll stick with ffof, perlite, and maybe toss some peat moss and worm castings in there.

After you do some research if you have any questions feel free to ask. There are a lot of great growers here who use ffof and will be glad to help especially if you show the initiative to learn. If your interested in soils and mixing them here is another link. Lots of good info is on growweedeasy.
