Foxtailing, mature calyx, and harvesting

I have 3 plants that have been fox tailing and 1 has quite a bit of new bud being fox tailed. Blue Dream, Lemon Haze and Slurracane.

On one of the plants there's so much fox tailing that the bud looks new, but when I sampled the older bud just below the new fox tail I found that the trichomes were about 40% amber.

Here's a pic of one of Slurracane's colas, the white pistils don't contrast great in the pictures but if you look close you can see the white up top. I don't have my usb microscope camera yet so I can't post any pictures of the trichs, I'll do that next week if the plants are still growing.

My question is, should I ignore the fox tailing buds and harvest by the older trichomes on older calyx, or should I wait until the pistils have all turned dark and go by the trichomes on the newer buds?

All opinions appreciated.

May as well let it pack on some more, I’m in the same boat but not quite as much, I’m going to make a call soon. Looks good!

On the second pic. The one on the left behind looks like its more naturally foxtailing strain and that it wants to go for a while still. The one on the front looks much closer to done. I cant really tell whether it wants to do excess foxtailing or if thats just the last ones it pushing out before finishing. I recommend keeping close eye to its trichomes, if they look good, then cut it, if not, then let it go for a while and keep an eye on it.

The strain I began with has always foxtailed a bit. Last grow I had buds that actually resembled fan leaves due to multiple fox tails on 1 cola. That grow was in the winter with LEDs so it was certainly not heat stress.

This time around I wanted to let it go to see if it would ever finish foxtailing. I am going into week 13, 15 since flip, and have decided for good that they will likely just keep going. Chop time here!

That take determination, waiting so long.

The first strain I grew, sativa bagged, ran 16 weeks and I think that I chopped too quick.

I've moved my Sluracane to my 3x3 tent and as soon as I cut the trellis the plant collapsed on herself. Like a spiral.

I'm going to give her another week of 12/12 before she becomes a victim of clone scheduling, I'm going to need the tent for new plants. This Sluracane is suppose to be a 9 week strain and this plant will have gone 12 weeks by the weekend.

The trichome on the new calyx are 75% cloudy, 25% clear, no amber. I'll see how they look this Saturday for chopping.
