Gardening Myths and hacks that don't work.

There are a lot of great gardeners here with years of experience growing everything from vegetables and fruits to trees and shrubs. There may be some Master Gardeners here. I'm asking you. What gardening myths are your favorite ones that make you wonder? Weed tea? Egg shells? Molases teas. Tread lightly there are some sensitive people here. I'm not setting out to embarrass someone for "falling for it". I just want to save you some money and time.
Unsulfured molasses. Sulfur will kill your microbes. Don't plants need sulfur to live? Shouldn't your microbes be feeding on the food that the plant provides. After the microbes consume the sugars (in a few hours) now what do they eat? They die off. How is this beneficial? Your soil should have plenty of calcium and magnesium to and other minerals to support an annual plant in a pot.
Got any more doosies? These are only "opinions not based on scientific research :peace:
P.S. I have a bottle of organic unsulfured black strap molasses in the refrigerator. Silly me. I think I almost killed my plants when I didn't measure the molasses. How can you have Molasses when they aint had lasses? (Stymie)

I don't know if it's only in my country, but in the 80s and 90s you often heard people say that it would become extra potent when you harvested if you pulled up the plant by the roots and dipped them in boiled water

Most people have probably also heard that it will be beneficial to place the plants in the dark for 48 hours before harvesting

sulfur in molasses cant wipe out the microbes in the soil, chlorine in tap water cant wipe them out either. dying microbes are also plant food so killing a portion them is not the most terrible thing either and their population will bounce back very quickly.

Tap water

Although safe to drink, fine on your houseplants and outdoor garden. When used on your indoor cannabis plants, it must be left out or better yet aerated for a minimum of 24hrs.
i do hydro with bacteria and they dont feel it i have to replace my water because of overpopulation

ime that works when you dilute it in a lot of water i do this to my mother plants sometimes and they like it
I knew a guy who would piss in a 5 gal bucket then fill with water. Idk about that personally.
He would say what the human consumes makes or breaks this. Can’t be drinking beers all night and pizza or fried food and Expect anything beneficial so I’m told.

i mean this looks ok to me as a plant food28D05768-CBDA-401C-AEA8-4B6DA5531AA1.jpeg

of course if you eat healthy and stuff it must be better but i am guessing even if you eat like a pig all it will do is increase sodium or something. nothing so drastic i think.

and when i dilute it its like 1 part piss to 200 parts of water or something but they like it a lot. its just a free substitute for plant food by the way. not a miracle.

I just feed a higher dose of veg nutes

Enjoy your pissy weed and mixing your piss though, all the power to you to save that $.5 cents I guess
yeah but you feeding higher dose of veg nutes doesnt mean piss doesnt work. also by that logic all organic farmers are enjoying their chicken, cattle, bat and/or worm shitty weed.

Do you have a myth to contribute?

Last summer a research assistant from a study being done at the University of Michigan interviewed me about my use of human urine as fertilizer. They had gotten a $3 million grant to investigate the cultural and practical aspects of converting urine into "pee tea" and I have been doing that for over 30 years. This video shows a bare bones approach to recycling human waste and growing beautiful vegetables. According to the U of M one of the hardest aspects of doing it is getting people past the "yuck" factor. Once that happens it makes all the sense in the world. I love my urine diverting composting toilet because water is too valuable to poop and pee in- and you lose all the free fertilizer. You can do this too!
