Gnats in hydro

How should he do this growing in water?
I grow in pro-mix but I still consider myself a hydro grower, but I prefer the term salt grower. But I get where he was coming from. If you're in a soil-less medium usually yellow traps are enough if you are diligent. I stick a few in each grow every round and have done so forever. In my humble opinion, would be foolish not to have some yellow sticky somewhere in your area.

He said to stop overwatering, I said it’s hard to do growing in water

So how nuts can I get with the HP before it could hurt my plants? Was 2 1/2 cups into 5 gal enough to dip root into ? And how long should I dip them?

I had some gnats over the summer, dont know what kind but still pissed me off. I put stickie traps all over my room and on top or rez lid. And kill every one you see. check water line in rez always found a few there.

And comprehension as well. I was saying that to me "hydro" doesn't equal growing in water. It the way you deliver your salts regardless of medium or substrate. I also don't think a lot of people would agree with me, but when somebody says they grow hydro I wonder, Coco? Promix? Aero?Dwc?etc. It's Saturday, maybe take that plug out of your ass and relax?

Mosquito Dunks and Bits work well in a hydro reservoir (put it in a sock so it doesn't clog a pump) and can be broken up and put in soil/media. The active bacteria is BTI and kills their eggs. It doesn't do shit for adults, but it stops the breeding cycle. *Note that you can't use it in a sterile system since it will kill the bacteria.

It's called Mesquito Dunks/Bits, but mosquitos, fruit flies, and fungus gnats are all similar and the BTI fucks up their ability to reproduce.

I use a soap mix of Peppermint, Neem, and Castile Soap to kill the adults on contact and coat the surface of the plants, soil, and pots.

Put the meth pipe down and get some sleep.

Also make sure to check any spare soil or media that fungus gnats may hide or breed... I was doing great on killing fungus gnats daily but they seemed to keep coming back just as fast. One day I opened a rubbermaid tub in the grow room that has extra soil and there must have been 200 fungus gnats in there! Killed them with the spray, then dumped a bunch of water with BTI in it and they have never come back.

I agree with this. It's what threw me off originally.

Just use yellow sticky traps and stop overwatering. I don’t know why people go to such extreme measures to kill gnats.
Seconded. A full on crazy infestation might reduce yield by 5 or 10 percent.

But yeah, yellow stickies. Cut them in half and stick them right on top of the medium.

I always leave the film on one side and flip them over once the sticky side is getting full. Also I put them on the brim of the pot, and as a bridge between the brims of the pots, to trap a ton of foot traffic.

What medium are you using?

What exactly is your setup? I assume the medium is rockwool. You're drip feeding it in a basket in a bucket? Why? Usually that setup is for dwc.
Running 15 drip feed lines into 15 5gal buckets with rock wool as the base the roots hang in the vacume of the bucket and the feed tube is on a 15 min timer.

Well glad to report the little fuckers are dead. I put about 4 cups of 3% HP in a bucket with 5 Gal of water and dunks each of the plant roots for a couple minutes. Left them over night back in the system and the next day flushed the system dunk thr roots in fresh ph water vacuumed out the buckets the plants look good and all the gnats are dead.
