Going to mix 315 cmh and led but will they need to be at different heights

So for the next run I am going to mix 2 315cmh with 2 spider farmer sf1000 but I got to thinking and I am wondering if I will need to hang the cmh further up than the led.

I keep the cmh around 20 inches from the canopy but have never used led so Im not sure if the spider farmers will have to be lower.

Do you guys think the led will still perform well being 20 inches above the canopy?

I run a mix of cmh 315 and qb96 elite. The combination is amazing.

I have them all hung at the same height but I these lights are all similar size.

I would just get a cheap flux meter.

How high do you hang the lights?

Are people still using LED's? I thought HPS was back in charge?
You're probably thinking of the blurples. The full spectrum white is way different, than that old tech.

I love my QB's with cmh. It kicks ass. I don't think you can turn the sf1000 down a bit, but that would be an option. Or just run the cmh a little higher than normal. This round my cmh is higher than normal, and the plant under it looks as good as any other time. Next time, I'm gonna turn down the boards a bit, and leave all the lights a little higher than normal.

Here's the clone only Green Crack I took a pic of a few weeks ago at 5 weeks, with the higher cmh, and led only on the left side. I have a board on the right side of the cmh, but it's not turned on now.

How many inches above the canopy do you hang the lights?

Well this time I haven't been adjusting them much at all. I just started them high and let the plants grow up to them. Right now one plant is about 18" away from the HLG's on full power and its not liking it, lol. I've noticed a little light burn. The cmh is at least 24", but probably a little higher than that. That's why next time I will turn them down, but still plan to leave them higher than normal. I have 5 lights in a 3.5x8, with only 4 on now, and if they're higher there is more crossover light. I've been experimenting with different shit, all cmh, all led, led with cmh. My favorite is the cmh led combo, but it will put out more heat than all led.

Thanks for the info.

I live in a cold country and need the heat from the cmh so thats not problem.

I love the way the buds are looking under the cmh hps combo but I am confident adding in led and getting rid of the hps will be even better.

I've never mixed cmh with hps, so I can't comment on that, but it will definitely be cooler.

Right now i have 1 315 cmh and a 600 watt hps in a 5x5 and temps are 76-78 so I dont want to get much cooler. The weather will be warming up soon but it doesnt get very hot here even in summer so I should be fine.

I read a lot of people saying you need to run the room hotter with led so that's what put me off going all led in the first place.

Ok thanks.
Hey so how have your plants been at the height of 2 feet? I'm running a 315 cmh with two SF 1000 led lights and I've suffered some burn, not sure if its from nutrients or from light burn. Currently I've reset all my lights to 18 inches from the tallest plant in my tent. The tallest is a sativa that is many weeks away but the other 4 plants are getting close to being harvested so i'm not to worried about the height of the lights for them but I am worried about potential light burn on the sativa. Thanks

I just finished up this run with hps and cmh so I'm not sure about the hanging height yet with led.

Your question contained an answer that I was looking for thanks man!. do you have a thread of the results from mixing your CMH and Led's and what highth did you end up using?

I ended up doing a smaller version of that setup. I used one 315 cmh and one 110w Alibaba sf1000 using 3x3 of the 5x5. The results were very high quality buds and the lights were around 20 inches above the canopy.

I have two 220 watt boards now which I will run with two 315 cmh using all of the 5x5.

I highly recommend trying out cmh led mix.
