NYC Diesel / Early Skunk / Hindu Kush

From seed. Started Dec 7th

Thanks to some help from a few awesome members, i think I’m back on track and will start a journal.

Two NYCD from Toronto Seedbank. One Hindu Kush from Amsterdam. One Early Skunk from Amsterdam. Not sure the shop or breeder as a friend brought them back from a recent trip. I’ll try to find out exactly what I have. 4x4x8 setup with 320W LED Blurple special (I know it’s weak for 4x4 in flower but it’s what I have so gonna give it a go). Had some temp and rh deficiencies which slowed the Diesels down significantly. The other two were gifted at time of transplant and were much healthier since bringing them in. Only just hooked up Inkbirds and cranked the light 85% (as to not be too hot). Once the three ring mist maker arrives Tuesday, the entire VPD should be dialed in and I can crank the light 100%. If I crank the light 100 now, the RH drops into 30s, so had to sacrifice a little light until humidifier gets here. Since getting into 77-78 F with Rh 48/49, the plants have responded well. The kush and skunk were topped yesterday / last week, so I expect to see lots of growth soon. I’m using 50% roots organic and 50% coco perilite. Ph 6.5. Cal mag added to water because of hard water filter. Started with fox farm duo leftovers, but I will start Biobizz trio {grow, bloom, top max} next watering. Obviously the top max in flower only. The slow growth has given me time to realize the importance of being above 70 degrees, and given me a chance to really use tools this time to dial the VPD. With that, I’ve decided to also keep a journal and actually learn from this.
Sorry about the pics. I’ll try to get them under normal light moving forward.

Monday Jan 30:

Got my heater connected to the inkbird last night. Nights it drops into the high 60s, so the heater is necessary. I set it at 74 and it cycles on at 71. Takes about 2 mins to get to 75 and then doesn’t cycle back on for about 6 mins. So the heater runs for 4 mins every 10 mins at night. I’ll see what I can do to snake this more efficient. Starting Biobizz regiment today, as all 4 soil beds seems pretty dry. (Grow/bloom/Cal Mag)

all 4 were bone dry, but PH meter comes tomorrow so I have the diesels bottled water, and the others the FF mix from a few days ago. When I can PH, I’ll feed more aggressively.

Good luck with your grow.
Some pics without the burple color would be nice.

Tuesday Jan 31:

Topped the Diesels. They’re finally moving.

Everything seems to be drinking fine. Found the speedometer for the fan, and hooked that up. Everything is really dialing in temp wise. Should have RH dialed tonight.

Humidifier hooked up and automated.
Current VPD: 1.01
RH: 67%
78%F

Finally… off to the races. Hope this helps.

Wednesday Feb 1:

Woke up Diesel’s yellowing. Since they haven’t had fertilizer, I decided to feed them with biobizz grow and calmag. Hoping this corrects the deficiency, now That the VPD is dialed. Water PH 6. PPM 800ish

Thursday Feb 2:

plants are dancing. Skunk and Kush were bone dry, so fed them with biobizz grow and cal mag mix. This is their first dose of biobizz. Started on FF.

Sunday Feb 5:

All four were dry. Fed all four with a pretty decent soaking of Grow/CalMag. PH was 6.4 and runoff was also about 6.4. Still some traces of yellowing but hoping it’s from them needing fertilizer in the beginning. So far new growth looks healthy and green. Kush and skunk were topped a second time today. Diesels look like I could prob top again, but gonna wait a day or two as they are much smaller. Trick will be to get an even canapoy by vegging long enough, but I have limited vertical space. Scrog should help.

Topped the Diesels a second time. Everything seems happy, and I HOPE I solved the yellowing in its tracks.

Wed Feb 22:

Been LST’ing the plants and trying to create an even canopy. Due to the stunted growth of the diesels, I don’t think I’ll ever get an even canopy and the other two are going crazy, so I’m thinking of flipping the lights soon and getting on with it.

Sat Feb 25:

Watered and Flipped lights to 12/12 this am. The new cycle will be lights out from 9pm-9am

the two diesels in front are super bushy and look like a salad. Due to the stunted growth I wasn’t able to properly train, and it’s time to start flower. So we’re gonna just see how these things fare as bushy salad bowl plants. I’m hoping they have a long sativa stretch. As of now, the inter-nodal spacing is extremely close together.

Harvested the Early Skunk tonight. Day 65. Not bad for some ‘blurples.’ Certainly there is room for advancement, and now that my environment is dialed in, I think for the next round, we’ll invest in some stronger LEDs. Overall buds are pretty large and dense, but they could be bigger and more dense. Wreaks of sweaty skunk, with some sweet overtones. I did not flush this plant, so we’ll see if they taste weird. I know there are mixed feelings about this.

Looks awesome! Should be a dream to smoke.
Hoping so. This is essentially my first grow. I’ve done outdoors before with varying levels of success, and one indoor operation where I was just pretty much a helping hand. So overall, I’m pretty pleased, but I won’t count my chickens before they hatch. Praying for something that tastes good.
