Grow Room Beginnings

I've been working all day and finally have something resembling the beginning of a grow room...

This is the upper half of the closet.
Left-Top is veg/clone, Left Bottom is Drying room, right side is flower room.

This is still a work in progress. Tomorrow I'm going to floor the bottom of the flower room with plywood and create a 'box' that the ballast will sit inside and vent it's heat out to the rest of the room. Once that's done I'm going to fill the old screw holes and line everything except the ceiling with Panda Film.

At that point I need 2 light hangers ($60) 440CFM Vortex Fan ($130) and the 1000 watt bulb for my HPS ($100 - $145) and I'll be ready to grow. It's going to be a Canna Organic Grow using Canna Bio Pro Plus for my meduim and the canna schedule for nutes once the babies are ready.

Plants will be
1 AK-47 from Serious Seeds
1 Belladonna from Paradise Seeds
1 Northern Lights from Nirvana

I would like to do a 2/2/2 grow but I have to guage how bushy the plants will get and how tall they will get first so the starting grow will be a 1/1/1 grow.

good start,people dont understand how much work is involved in building a grow until theyve done it themselves,my room i thought would take me a weekend, im still tweaking it here and there,heh, have fun

looking good man, i have to wait another 6 weeks befor i rebuild my growing space.

Okay been working more on the room today ...

I added the panda film to everything except the front and ceiling.
I'm trying to decide if I'm going to put film on the ceiling anyway,
my wife thinks I should to completely seal it, I'm thinking it's mostly
a waste of time. Any thoughts? I still have to install the light hangers and
vent the room out the flower ceiling so it will be a little while before I do that.

lol i want ur setup man, its exactly what im looking for in an op. i just have a closet and a DIY cab. pretty cool, but not as cool as urs. rite on man

Just remember something though RT76 - Those odour socks work best when they are blown though not sucked through - Most reputable dealers will all tell you that...........They work best outside the room on the end of the exhaust ducting.

Hrm ... ok I guess I could put the OdorSok in the attic with the vent ... it really doesn't matter as long as odor moves out of the closet and NOT into the rest the house ..

I've heard just the opposite, although I've wanted to run it outside the room so it doesn't have to run continually. It would seem to me that if outside the room (attic most likely), that you could keep the carbon filter from working/scrubbing until you WANT it to, via blowers and what not. I wish somebody would clear this up for me.

There are some seriously mixed reviews of the OdorSok online, it was about $100 less than the Can Filter. I'll try it but am fearing that I'll have to replace it with a Can filter in a few short months. My first grow is only going to be 3 plants, so the odor should be kept minimal, worse case I'll stick a jar of Ozium in the room until I can afford a new Can Filter.

I've been told that if growing on a low budget with only one or two flo lights, that if u line the room with tin foil it helps speed up growth and increase lumens. Is this true?

Tin foil sucks ... If you're on a tight budget use flat white paint... I dropped about $60 for the panda film and it reflects something like 95%...
Mylar is MUCH cheaper than Panda Film, there are many alternatives but Tin Foil isn't reflective enough, the appearance is deceiving.

How large is that area that you are putting that 1000w HPS? 3x3? Depending on the answer you might have some heat issues.

It's really small but I'm putting in a 440 cfm fan in for cooling. The hood is air cooled. I checked at my local hydro shop and they have a 1000 HPS in a tent that's 3X4 with a 440CFM vortex and the glass was 'warm' while 6" away from the glass it was 'room temperature.' I'm going to be keeping an eye on the temps I don't want them above 75 if possible.. I've got an AC duct right above the closet so worse case scenario I split my AC ducting and add a vent into the room off my home AC or I sell the ballast and get a 400 or 600 to replace it.

I was playing around with a 1000w in a 2 x 3 with a cool tube. I was pulling 500cfm over the light and I couldn't get the temp lower than 95. I would give it a test run. I think that a 600w will still knock your socks off.

I have to give the oder sok thumbs up...but I also added a can filter when I got more lights...
