Growing medical in IL

5 plants over 5". 1/1/20 is the go date. Got plans?

I built my hydro box a while ago when I was believing Indica was what I need and we would have a sane number of plants at least for medical. I may need to rebuild a taller box because Sativa is what's good for me and one of my tubs was with 6-12 for medical in mind.

I'll try flowering Sativa short before rebuilding the box.

Luckily as far as growing is concerned, tolerance is hard for me to come by so 5 plants should be plenty. I might even get a new tub and set it up for 1 plant to flower at a time.

I'm using LED floodlights. I tested them with a pepper plant and it did great.

Relocating to illinois. With medical will the 1000 ft of a school or park still apply?

I don't find that language connected to medical home grow... only cultivation and dispensary...

Shhhh . . . I'm starting from seed now (grow in my sig). Plants certainly won't be adults by the 1st. My neighborhood bartender has a card and insists that he can already grow legally, but ... he does him.

I'm trying my best to do things on the cheap. Hydro stores in my area have some high quality soil and will often give great discounts if you ask.

Right now I'm starting seedlings with a Hydrofarm florescent seedling light I already own. Supplies I bought:

-Two five gallon fabric pots (4.30 each with a discount)
-Nectar #4 pH'd soil
-Amazon-listed bargain brand 400w HPS/MH dimmable ballast, bulb, and reflector kit (Hydrobuilder, about 120)
-cheap pH meter (the yellow one)
-Flora bloom Pura Vida blooming nutrients
-Cal Mag because everyone seems to need it
-ph up/down (you can do it with vinegar and baking soda if you want)
-2 pack cheap 400 HPS bulbs

I'm excited.

I should really take a look at the law and see what it has to say about baby plants. From what I understand, the five plant limit applies to adult plants.

There is absolutely no way for anyone to tell what some tiny seedlings under the starter grow light in my window are right now. I got the light years ago as a gift and grew basil and tarragon and stuff with it.

Yeh we can have up to 5 plants that are more than 5 inches tall. I wouldn't worry about it we got less than two weeks to go. Keeping mother plants of different strains is going to be interesting though ;)

Another reason I'm doing autos. The big advantages of photos to me are basically negated by the five plant limit. If you get a rare and very nice cutting one day, you're basically just growing only that.

No clones, the law says no live plant material (also means the only way to get it for eating fresh is to grow it). Dispensaries will be allowed to sell seeds and patients may buy them.
The cannabis seeds are expensive. Most of the seed-bank sells approx $10.00 and more per seed. I ordered and received seeds from "Expertseedbank" and they have the special deal right now until the end of Jan. ex: I ordered 10 seeds, cost me $67.00 and they sent 20 seeds extra, so I received a total of 30 seeds.
If you ordered > (EU) 50.00, shipping is free. It is coming from overseas, so it takes longer to get here. I ordered 2x from them and both times, they arrive within 3 weeks from the date that I place an order.

I went to the dispensaries just before Christmas and they have nothing. No seeds and they don't know exactly when they will get them or what strain they will carry. I am not sure if dispensaries will be ready for the flood of customers on Jan 1. They don't seem to have it under control.
IL is allowing us (Medical M Cardholder) to grow 5 plants that are anything over 5 inches tall. Why bother stating plants over 5 inches! When it starts to sprout, within a couple of days, it will be over 5 inches. When you apply the stress training to marijuana plants, you can actually make the plant grow short and wide. I think people who wrote this law never grow any plants, especially marijuana. So, when they say 5 inches, how do they measuring the heights?

Auto has pros and cons. I think if you are serious about growing, I think it is best to learn to grow with feminized. Auto plants, you can't control, but if you grow feminized, you can let it stay longer in the veggie state before you switch to flower. You can't do that if you are growing Auto.

Growing all 5 plants and chop them and start over again will not give me enough buds to make medicine for my husband... Not to mentioned it takes 5-6 months to grow from the seed to harvest.

I am going to grow my plants in both stages; Starting at 5 plants, after 2 months, move 2-3 plants to flower room, but keep 2-3 plants in the Veggie room and continue to grow them in the veggie state. When the plants in the flower tent are ready to be harvest, I will cut them. Same time, I can move the plants in the veggie tent to flower tent and start 2-3 new grow (either from the seeds or cloning) So, I will always grow 5 plants. but if I follow my plan, I can do the perpetual harvest, every 2 months. This requires either 2 tents or 2 separate rooms.

Anyone know for sure we can grow 5 plants per household or 5 plants per patient? example: if I have MMJ card and my husband have MMJ card, how many can I grow? My understanding is 5 total even though there are 2 people who need the med. I just want to verify...
