Hi friends! I've been a member of this community for several months now and was a lurker for quite some time before that 
After taking up the indoor growing hobby a while back I found that I really like growing in coco coir. There are tons of benefits to growing in coco and other soilless medias, all of which have been mentioned plenty here on rollitup so I won't get into that. There are plenty of ways to approach growing soilless, all of which will provide you with nice buds. I personally like and have seen the benefits of high frequency fertigation advocated by dr. mjcoco. The only issue I had when I first started utilizing that method was how much time it took.
I thought there had to be an automated system out there that would help, but I couldn't find anything that solved the problems I was having....so I started tinkering First I came up with a system that could be calibrated to deliver an exact amount of nutrient solution at a set interval. It worked really well, and I was super happy to not have to water by hand anymore. After a month of using it I realized that I was still constantly having to adjust how much solution was being delivered to my plants to maintain the correct runoff amount.
Then I came up with the idea of using digital scales to weigh the runoff. If, during any irrigation cycle, the runoff was below 20% of what was delivered, the controller would increase the amount delivered on the next cycle by 10%. In this way, as my plants grew and took in more water, the controller would always be adjusting how much it fed with. After implementing the scales, the system was almost complete!
The last thing I wanted it to do for me was empty my drip trays. I had a family camping trip planned, and I knew that by the time I made it home my drip trays would be close to full, or overflowing I added an additional pump module to the system that would empty the drip trays for me once a day. Now I had all the main chores covered. All I had to do was mix up a batch of nutrient solution once a week and I was good to go!
I've been working on developing this for a year now and I am finally ready to share it with anyone that wants a little help with their soilless grow. My company is based out of Washington state, and we are just getting started. Right now it's just my wife and I, but we hope this idea takes off and we can grow our business.
