so I am thankful....

this thread is highly offensive. millions of people lost their lives for a day with a turkey. you should be ashamed of yourself for talking about thankfulness and being greatful when this day represents bloodshed, theft, rape, genocide.
I'm not this guy^^ :(

Awww congrats please let him know how proud you are!!!! You should be!!
I will! This years celebration is going to be a bit different...the family would always meet up at my grandparents house in the past. Unfortunately my Grandmother passed away in January. Grandfather tried living with a few of my Aunts and Uncles but he just has too many medical issues and needs better care, so he is in an assisted living home. Its a nice one, but its still an old folks home. So we're all going to see him there at noon, have a Thanksgiving lunch of sorts, then retire back to somebody's house to party a bit. Go figure, the first time I'm bringin a nice young lady to a family get together and we're goin to a damn old folks home. smh...still just glad everyone will be together though.

I just went thru basically the same thing with my grandparents. Grandfather passed from alzheimers, grandmother passed last yr from brain tumor.
There was nothing like going to grandma's house for the holidays. No one dared screw-up, or you dealt with grandma..
It helped out that I was her favorite, so got away with more. lmao those were the days.

Happy thanksgiving, RIU friends.
I have a lot for which to be thankful this year ... not least that I have one of my children living with me. We're building a feast today; the turkey just came out of the brine.

Anyone ever skip thanksgiving dinner and serve food at the soup kitchen?? Talk about a humbling experience. Really makes you appreciative of what you have. Happy thanksgiving to everyone btw. I am thankful to have people in my life that care about me, a roof over my head, food to eat and the fact I am not locked in a cage.

Did this every year with my daughter as she grew up. As an adult she is a kind and thoughtful person for which I am thankful. :)

I've serve at our local soup kitchen, not on the holidays though. I find that people are friendlier after they eat and are turning in their tray versus when they are in line trying to scheme an extra soda or not liking the free meal they are getting lol

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Got up early to go for a nice snowy four wheeler ride, and now it's time to work on my golf(soon to have an r32 engine in it), and smoke out some good friends who are coming over.

Cheers

Happy Thanksgiving everybody! I am out of town at my sister's celebrating the holiday each with our new babies, but still needed my RIU fix apparently. I am thankful for alot of stuff. Life has been very good to me. Blessed is most appropriate.
