Hashishh's Perpetual Fishing Trip

Hey all - Thought I'd make a grow journal. Feel free to comment - Pretty much anything goes. Making this as place to hang out and shoot the shit. Hoping to have another year of some decent fishing.

I generally take pretty good notes by hand but with Covid I've been bored so...

Current specs -

- 600w HPS/MH
- 4x4 Flower Tent
- 2x4 Mother/Clone area

Genetics -

- 2x Copper Chem (GPS) Females
- 1x Sundae Stallion (GPS) Female
- 1x Copper Chem (GPS) Male

Currently doing an open room pollination. Copper Chem x Copper Chem and Copper Chem x Sundae Stallion.

With the news about GU retiring the Stardawg male I figured why not make some seeds as backup. This is a run with the last of the seeds I had so I've taken clones off each plant just incase we get a keeper.

I've put in an order for some StarDawg F2 and Cherry Wine F2 from GPS as well as Erdpurt and Golden Tiger by Ace. Hopefully some Peak Seeds gear coming up.

Current things in the works;

- Prepping seedlings and clones for outdoors

- Peppers and tomatoes are getting germinated. Need to build a new planter for the garden

- Trout fishing & Fish Fry!!!!

Upgrades by the start of next summer -

- Upgrading the 600 HPS to a 650w+ LED. Eyeballing the Meijiu F8 right now. Want this for my next flower run.

- 4x4 tent will be the new veg/mom/clone area.

- Dedicating a 4x10 - 4x12 area strictly to flower. I'm halfway through some major basement renovations and I'd like to tear out part of a storage area to dedicate to flowering. Water main is located 2' from the area, and sewer is right underneath the room. Haven't gotten to planning yet, but something to note.

- New 2x4 tent for breeding purposes.

- Have a spare AC unit on standby, so possibly looking into the possibility of CO2 at one point.

Been looking at some LED's on Alibaba the last few days. One of my ballasts shit the bed so I'm running on an old backup which will likely also shit the bed anytime now too.

Time to upgrade. Looking at 600 true watts minimum. Was debating between the Meijiu F8 like Bk78 uses or even the Luxint 720w. The PPFD chart for the Luxint looks a bit more attractive than the F8 but uses a bit more juice as well.

A few pics from some days ago. Thinned the canopy out a bit last night and took some clones to get rooted for when these are done. Male is just about ready to blow.

Next flower run is gonna be a mix of the 2 CC phenos, SOG style.

picks and pike
where the trout at
There was even a smallmouth off camera :bigjoint:

The trout are coming as soon as the lakes are thawed out. Lots of specs and splake up in this area. Not much for Lakers though.

Was going to toss some more fishing pics up but I realized I lost all my photos on my old phone! Well I guess that gives me an excuse to get out this week granted the shorelines are opened up. :hump:

Took the male out and pollinated some of the lowers. He let some pollen fly so I should get a pretty nice haul of seeds out of this :bigjoint:

None of the Early Funk seeds germinated unfortunately. They were about 5 years old and just left in a cupboard so I didn't have too high of hopes for them.
So in this case I'm hoping the autos I have are still viable, since they're about the same age. Regardless I've got 2 Bubba Kush under a T5 right now that are gonna go outdoors.

Love that Bubba Kush! I can't seem to pull her out of the rotation, every time I light her up, I fall in love all over again!

I wasn't too impressed with the Bubba I got. I can't even remember the breeder, I'd have to dig the packs out. I've got a few clones I was gonna run again but decided I'll just put em outside. They should be a good 3-4' tall by then.

Pheno 1 Bubba in the background with the Copper Chem clones. These should be rooted and ready to flower by the time the tent is done. If they root sooner I've got a spare 4x4 I can fire up.

I gotta find a shorter flowering strain for the tent, these Copper Chems usually go around 11-12 weeks from flip. After this seed run I'll do a SOG with some clones I took from the 2 mom's.

Thinking of grabbing some Peak Seeds gear to plug the gap. Their commercial Kush would be an excellent cross with my Erdpurt that's coming.. hmm..

Been looking more and more at lights. I think I'm settled on the Meijiu F8. I've looked at a lot of QB boards on Ali and while cheaper, just don't give the PPFD spread I'm looking for.

Anyone got any insight? After seeing BK's grow and doing a lot of brand comparisons it almost seems like the best bang to buck ratio.

Not gonna pull the trigger just yet but summer and it's heat are just around the corner. I've got a chop date for the end of June, and I usually shut down due to temps after that. I'm hoping going with LED I can keep going all year.

Another feed tonight. They drank 2 gal each in 2 days about.
1 gal feed each tonight at 700ec plus a quarter teaspoon Epsom. What's left goes to the rooted cuts and some house plants.

Noticed a lot of the lower buds are going brown at the tips. Woohoo, might have chucked more pollen than I thought.

Tomorrow marks 4 weeks since flip. 8 more weeks to go.

Anyone try out Nalite on Alibaba? This light seems like a steal, too good to be true. Doesn't look like it uses LM301's but I can't quite tell.

Under 500 Canadian shipped to my door for 800w.

Will only let me post the Ali app link for some reason but here it is.

Stretched a tape last night and took some approximate measurements for the future flower room. I'm working with a 4x12 closet.
Ideally I'll use at least 4x8 for flower and can potentially bump it out to 5x8. This will leave me room to partition off a 4x4 section for clones and veg.

Still much planning to do. Maybe I'll frame up the rest of the basement the next coming weeks and start drafting out a plan.

What's your ideal room size everyone?

I have this little stream I bring the wife to in the spring and early summer. It's shallow and murky but it doesn't matter what you toss out you're bringing in 5 pounders all day. We don't eat pike very often but it's fun to get out for an afternoon and catch and release.

I'm junk at cleaning pike so we usually make ground up patties. Goes great on a bun with some tartar :bigjoint:

Went down to the lake today. No fishies, but the dog had a blast.

Got sent a good deal on some quantum boards from Meijiu.

Anyone ever used QBs in a 4x4? Weird spread since the lights are only 2'x7.5"ish. Was thinking of getting 3.
Shipped to my door theyre only 650$ Canadian.

I'm only worried about light penetration vs say 2 QB 550w. Not 100% sure.

I generally keep my plants short but they got away on me this time and wanted to keep enough lowers for a good pollen chuck.

Maybe I'll pull the trigger on these lights this week. Sale ends in 3 days.

Nice looking plants.
You ever smoke the trout? That's some good eating friend.

:peace:
My folks use to smoke them when I was a kid - I remember sneaking in the fridge and stealing some like some forbidden candy lol.
My dad was showing me his old notes from when he use to smoke meat. Seems he used a lot of cherry since it's easy to find local.

What's your favorite wood to smoke with? Personally I find myself going for cherry and maple since they're the easiest to find around here.

I keep saying I'll build a smoker and never get around to it. One of these days maybe.
:peace: :bigjoint:

If I didn't have to work I'd have stayed at the pond till later tonight and caught some but there's always next week. Then again, rain in the forecast. :spew:

I'm in the SW so most the wood available locally is mesquite. Generally I'll use hickory or apple to a lesser extent, general all purpose woods for a variety of meats, although I haven't done fish in a while. Also I don't believe that I've tried cherry, will have to pick up some chips/chunks sometime. I smoke on an Akorn grill, it's a steel kamado. Very versatile! That said I'd like to build one someday too.

Gone out two days in a row with not a bite.
Looks like rain for the next few days so I'll probably cozy up at home and get some stuff done inside.

I like mesquite paired with a nice steak. The Cherry we have around here is often called "choke cherry". It adds a bit of a bitter taste which a lot of people don't like. I find it goes great with chicken and pork though.

There isn't much availability for cooking wood up here.
