Defoliated today heavy and planning to flip, do plants recover at night when they sleep or should I give them one more day of 18/6 to transpire and recover? Was planning to give them 24 hrs of darkness before giving the 12/12 schedule

plants are used to leafs being broken in the wild and suffer little from it.
You can defoliate and flip. It wont hurt them
when a branch /leaf gets damaged/removed they put out something like an adrenalin to repair
this can be used when branches are stunted like mine to get an extra bit of growth at the tip heavy leaf removal puts the growth towards the tip of the plant rather than the leaf.

my grows get constantly defoliated pretty much all the way through grow and veg.
last grow total leaf removed was 15 kilos. Yes was being nurdy weighing them wet.
TIMG_20201227_222814_3.jpghis grow they suffered a root burning through my own fault had to heavily lollipop before flipping
you can see the leaf piles on my journal.
happy growing bro

Give them a couple few days to recover before you flip, and skip the 24-hrs of darkness part.
Ya I don’t know how bad I stressed them so by throwing them into 24hr darkness would probably stress them out more. I’m gonna give them acouple days to recover. I did foliar spray PowerSi original and bloom rite after the strip to help with stress. Idk if that works or not. Have u tried the 24hr darkness, what’s ur theory in that

Took a look at your journal and I definitely did way more defoliate. I’ll jus wait 2 days so they can recover and give them a fresh watering of half grow/bloom nutes

I think 24-hours of darkness is more confusing to the plant than anything. I use far red end of day treatment to put my plants to sleep faster, and promote flowering earlier.

I'm a big believer in inertia, and I won't flip my plants to flower if they have had any recent stress, such as transplanting, without a few days for them to recover and regain inertia.

I see, I accidentally forgot to set the timer back to regular 18/6 so instead they got 14/10 last night. I’m thinking adding an hour today and tomorrow to make the transition to 12/12. I already defoliated last night, this is the after pic
Defoliate and flip immediately if you want
The plant won't even really notice the time change and actually start flowering for a week or so after the flip
In other words, you have a week of veg left anyway after you switch to 1212

If it gets stunt growth would it take another week to finish or less productive buds?

That is a very good looking canopy
Thanks man appreciate the kind words, I can decrease the stretch and have tight internodes but I’ll see how much stretch I can get since I wanna fill the canopy up a bit more. Gonna foliar spray tomorrow morning with PowerSi original and bloom

Man things are getting wild in here , I wanna strip some bottom fan leaves for better air circulation. I found these white spots on my leaves. Maybe it’s due to plants sweating. Hoping it’s not PM
