Hello from the green mile!

Hi all,
I've been trolling and learning for a few months now - finally decided to sign up and say hi. This post is (too) long - I'll be more concise now that I've belched all this out.
I started fiddling with a grow waaay before having a set up. I was getting ready to purchase a turn-key tent from Home Depot (gotta love California!), when C-19 went up, and my job went down --- so NO budget to start with.

I have none-to-minimal growing experience, but am fortunate enough to have 3 very experienced growers helping me; and now the rollitup community!

Here's a bullet point list of this "grow" - nothing exciting, but my errors are worth laughing at and noting so that I avoid them next time.
NOTE - The goal of THIS grow is simply to see if I can go from seed to smoke - If I can put this in my pipe next month, then down the rabbit hole I go.

I acquired a bunch of seeds from a friend, so I put 4 of them under paper towels and plates and germinated them. So far so good!

Pulled soil from an aloe plant I have on the patio and filled 4 16oz cups.
Placed the seedlings on a SE windowsill (no idea what light schedule that made it...) - they grew to almost 3 inches tall with just cotyledons and started falling over when the first true leaves came in.

A friend gave me a dodgy 300w blurple light - half the panel was blinking. Turned out to be simple cracked wiring at the panel.
While I was in the box, I noticed that the 2 power supplies max out at 150w each --- so the light is probably closer to 275w or less realistically.

My "grow enclosure" is a study in redneck engineering - 2 stacked apple crates lined with aluminum foil and taped for light with one sealable hole on top for the light rigging. - Approximately 24" wide, 18" deep, 48" tall
Yep --- NO budget!

Transferred into enclosure at week 2.5
Light sched 18/6
Transferred to random plastic pots I found in the garage - 1 qt each(?). Used Fox Farms Ocean soil
4 days after transfer - topped two, mainlined one, quadlined one (I thought I would to see which is easiest / most productive. NOT my best idea...)
LST per articles and advice - but due to my random topping / mainlining, canopy is not very even.

Finished the veg for another 4 weeks in the enclosure with the light (10 inches from canopy)
Light defoliation - snip a few leaves, look from above to ensure canopy is still intact - maybe 20-25% of lower foliage as applicable.
Watering every other day, or as soil dries out. Starting to get a feel for what they want.

24 hours of dark
flip to 12/12, plants about 8 inches tall (they're almost root bound, but I don't figure that until a few lines below...)

Major LST --- oooohhhh, THAT's what "stretch means!" - I'm out of cabinet space, but it looks as though the stretch is over - I hope! I have colas bent every which way on the two plants that were simply topped - but it seems that I get a lot more light on the growth sites below now - is that a good thing?

NOTE - the mainline and quadlined girls are shorter and MUCH simpler to maintain (no LST), and have slightly better flowers so far.

***Having been in my friend's rooms, I couldn't help but notice that my tallest plant (if I let her stand up) is only about 2ft tall. They're in tiny pots - so I have tiny plants - lesson learned!

Thanks for reading! That's where I am as of now. The girls are sleeping, but I'll get a few pics later. They're very cute little girls.

Again - I'm a complete rookie, I'm learning new things everyday; but now that the hook has been set (ask my poor wife!), I can't wait to apply what I'm learning (patience mostly) on the next round!
