how do I register a new strain

I miss the old days when the names actually made sense. Columbian Gold, Panama Red, Jamaican, Thai, Hawaiian, or Skunk Bud which was a blanket name given the early indica strains that started showing up on the west coast in the late 70's. At least that's what we called it.
AK makes no sense...

I have had a Louis 8th seed due to stress which self seeded so I assume they could be Hermie seeds it also pollenated my French macarons I am under the impression that they will be feminised seeds as female female cross I know the Genetics of both strains and where they originated from so will be potting them soon in organic grow if it's a new strain it wil be known as the Louis macron any info on female to female crossed is appreciated as it is first time I have cross bred

if you do release any genetics into the public pool please be honest about the origin, that is mostly what we need is transparency, just know that anything distributed from your garden may be replicated globally. thats just how it works
perhaps that's not a bad idea to some since some strains reach legendary status and I suppose that's enough for me

thanks for the comment.. these are being actively distributed and I have a grower in AZ who may cross this crazy plant to get seeds going..

i ran outside and took this for you.. this is my clone from the original cross.. lemon jack hermie pollinating a GG#4.. I got a single seed in a three z GG#4 harvest.. and assumed it was a GG#4... the Lemon Jack was from a mentor, also from hermie pollination between a Jack Herer and Lemon Kush.. I have kept that strain going here for two years but im running thin on seeds.. though every one has been female and hermie sites have been seldom

As has been said you can't register a strain. But you can call it whatever you want.

Here's my Durbistan. Pakistani Chitral Kush + Durban. I have some F5's growing right now. Planning on taking it to F7. At that point it will be an IBL.

Here's some other names I've given some of my crosses. It's basically just for fun. I have no ownership of the names even if I might have been the first to make the cross.

Pakima - Pakistani Chitral Kush + Panama.

Mazar Durbistan - Mazar I Sharif + Durbistan.

Russetama - White Russian + Ketama.
Lovely names.

You got any extra seeds of ur crosses would love to try and grow them next year starting winter :) cause i have a pause in the summer since i cant controll the heat in summer :,( . Dm my high ass <3

EDIT: Oh shit my high as didnt see the upper comments . Shiaaatt well count me in for some seeds if you will have any <3

You can trademark a name, but you can't "register" a strain. The closest thing you can do is pay to have it tested and listed on Phylos and trademark the name, so you have documentation that you were the creator...but that's for bragging rights only. This is why some seed sellers only sell fem seeds from certain strains...to discourage breeding with their genetics. Forget about all that ownership crap though. When you create a new strain...I mean, a REAL strain that you've worked for years with a crystal clear focus and goal in mind, then be happy if people like it and use it because it's a gift to the world. Plus, as long as you get your name out there as the original breeder, people will buy your seeds. Look at Serious Seeds with their legendary strains, Kali Mist and AK 47 have been used extensively by other breeders, but they've done the hard work of traditional plant breeding and kept up their lines and to this day people seedkout the original.

Consumers are the ones that ultimately decide a name. All you can really do is give a suggestion and hope it sticks... it doesn't matter what you call it, and it doesn't matter what phylos calls it, if the people smoking it call it something else, that is what it is going to be known as.
Whatever you name it, the name should sync up with the strain and its effects and terp profile. If it doesn't fit the strain, the name won't resonate. Another thing you need is some kind of reputation for people to even care... you can have a business and catalogue with all your names for your personal strains... but even with all that, if you are just some random chucker, it is unlikely anyone will even bother with your stuff to begin with, and if they do, if it can't compete, they won't give a fuck what you call it, because you won't be anything relevant. Two people can call two very different strains the same thing, and the one that gets more word of mouth will be the one that ends up being that thing, regardless of who came up with the name first.

on a side note, I have some seeds, doesn't matter what the genetics are, but they are called "the best fucking seeds ever" or "infinity high" seeds, or "super sugar gum drop, chocolate strawberry ice cream titty licker" seeds. if you want any, that'll be $200 please. don't use my names, they're mine, I registered them.
