Just built my new cabinet. 30" deep, 70"wide 60" high. I bought a 400 watt hid light system. With the ballast outside the box how much room do I need between the top of the reflector & the ceiling of the box? My box is plywood & the ceiling in it is 5/8 fireproof drywall. For safety when I built the box I painted the entire inside with fire resistant flat white paint. Just in case 
Also, anyone know what kind of heat just the bulb gives off with either the 400 watt HPS or the MH one? Is there a difference in the heat?
My box is in the garage (unheated) & I'm sure the lights will provide enough heat for the winter grow & then have a heater in the box to keep it toasty when the lights are off. All my walls in the box are 2X4 & are insulated with the pink fiberglass batts R-12 if you know building.
