How’s the outdoor season going?

The unfortunate thing for me is those MONSTER outdoor plants...well i dont think they will work right.

I have a streetlight that lights up my yard...the new samsung LED style...i can read at 2 am while watching my girls grow...

2 of them were more fickle so i moved the planters where i could hide them from the light...and they started flowering this week...we shall see.

But i had to know. I prefer growing inside where i can control things better but WOW organic soil is worth it. My vegetables love it too.

I have been living off of my own produce for 3 weeks now and i think it will go until halloween now...or i can smoke my way to the other side.

Good luck all...PEACE!

@Gwheel's .....monster outdoor plants can have their merit... they can be the difference between having meds for the whole year or only having meds for 1/2 the year... quality wise there is usually very little difference. When I used to grow clones... in an outdoor scrog set up... those plants would "hulk out" and on average ....produce a minimum of 4 to 7 pounds each of quality buds... and this was usually just the top half of the whole plant...
those scrogged plants would produce and have at least 15 to 20 main tops at 1/3 lb to 3/4 lb cola's when dry.. I will put up a sample picture (new leaves119)....and these still had a few weeks of growing to do at the time.

newleaves 119.jpg
The tripod plants Are ones I leave alone... to grow in as natural shaped plants, they are not trimmed or manipulated in any way.
I prefer natural shaped plants but merely for the ease of trimming. they grow to "christmas tree" plant sizes ,../...example..... newleaves. 128
and generally are much easier to trim....newleaves 128.jpgnewleaves 129.jpg

This year I planted seed from our little seed exchange from another site... last year... and I concentrated my crop from the Holland seeds I received.... It turned out that more than 1/2 were males this year ....which just started to show their sex about a week ago...... which is a bummer....
but what did grow as females 7 total are looking quite nice, but I would believe they are mostly sativa's since they have barely begun to bud.... and it is near the end of Aug.... any one who planted the apple jack -son's that I gave out and the 13 apple jacks-sons plants that started themselves in my compost this year .....that I gave to my neighbours....are way way further along than than anything I planted from seeds..... two of my neighbours will be able to start harvesting in the first or 2nd week of sept.......
and those plants are 12 ft to 14 footer plus plus... and just engorged with buds...
I hope to still manage a decent crop...but that will most likely depend on the weather, late in the season, though if need be... I will greenhouse them to finish up....if I have to.

A bunch of 2"x2"s nailed together and some poly stapled over them. It would be a good idea stapling through, or using small nails, strips of plastic or something to give the poly less tension right at the staple so wind gusts won't rip the poly. Might have to weigh it down or stake it to the ground.

Ya what Printer said. I keep the frames around and just add new 6mil poly as required. My permanent one was put on hold by a neighbour who is no fun at all

Here on the East Coast the temps have dropped and we are getting frost warnings at night. Had my first sign of budrot on one plant yesterday. I also harvested three plants out of the greenhouse. Buds on larger plants in the veggie garden seem to be growing every day now. Under the magnifier the colours are changing on a few of those plants. It has been a great summer here.

Macaww. She had 2 mains I took the tops the other day before the fungus did. She had some fat stinky purple colas.

Cut little 1" squares of cardboard, (cereal boxes work well), and drive the staple thru that to help prevent tears. If good strong staples cut 1x2" and fold over for better cushioning. Still screwed in a gale but should help. :)

My first outdoor plant in over 10 years. I'm way up in northern Alberta and we've already had two frosty mornings.

This 20:1 CBD girl was supposed to be an Auto Fem but grew as a photo but at least a girl. Had 3 others that all went male but one also grew as a photo. I took a few branches off to let flower out in a glass of water and drop the pollen on foil. He's a THC type but may be a good strain once I srout some more seeds of his family and actually try the bud.

Anyway, she has about 4 weeks or more to go, (flower start day Aug. 16), so I keep a sheet over the top and front on real chilly nights like tonight and have a little heater in there set low so it will keep it at 50F or higher if need be. If it rains I can cover the top with plastic to keep her buds dry. She's almost 5' tall and has nice thick stalks but I used long pipe cleaners to make supports that tie to the main stem. The main stem has a 6' piece of re-bar driven in deep to keep her from falling forward. I had a 6' bamboo stake but it was starting to bend too much so squeezed in behind her and drove in the re-bar.

If I can keep her going to a proper harvest I don't think it would be too optimistic to think I might get over half an elbow off her. Good thing I had to get rid of the others as she takes up all the allotted space. lol

You can see the re-bar and bamboo stakes in this pic. She almost fell forward already and was ripping the roots out of the ground. That's a cap off a 5gal water jug for scale and the white band is natural but kind of weird. Hoping I can make a walking stick out of that stem when she comes down. Us old hippies are sometimes in need of a 3rd leg. labrat.gif

Had a frost night in Manitoba. Keeping the girls in at night.
I don't have that option as she's growing in the ground and moving that beast would be quite the chore if not impossible.

Last night I noticed in that pic of the base of the plant there seemed to be a pipe cleaner wrapped around the stem about a foot up. Made a note last night then went out to see what was going on today and it's half embedded in the stalk and choking the plant off. Got it loosened but can't totally remove it without ripping the stem so just leaving it. Could have killed her and I don't know why it's even on there.

You're plants look a lot closer to being done than mine does. Lucky bugger. ;) How far north are you or closer to the 49th? I'm up around 56N.

49.9.

I have been putting them in the garage every day for more than a month. Today did not go well. Last night I got home late but put them in with it dark out. This morning when I took the first one out it was not spun around and I put one of the aluminum rods holding the branches up into my eye. So a morning at the hospital, abraded my eye in two places. Felt like I was stabbed in the eye, am better now. If one of a have dozen things did not happen I would be fine. Chain of events. What sucks is it is quite nice out and I do not want to go out in case some dust infects my eye. Not like I feel like doing anything out there right now. The eye doctor said she sees enough of people coming in with the same thing she now wears google while gardening.

OUCH! That sux big time. I wear my eye protection when doing shit like running the chain saw, weed-eater etc and any power tools in the shop but that one would likely have nailed me too. Been a long time since I've had an eye abrasion but still remember how bad it hurt.

I doubt you have anything to worry about going outside. Usually more nasty stuff in houses than out there. They didn't put an eye patch on you?

Nothing a couple drops of colloidal silver can't fix.

No patch. It has been windy the last couple of days and tosses around dust and dirt. It just depends on how lucky I feel. The rod could have hit my forehead and no big deal. So am I feeling lucky? I usually have my reading glasses on in the morning when I move my plants. Because of the darkness, the plant turned the wrong way, no glasses, I didn't see it coming. It's ok, just something to remind me how small and unimportant I am to the universe.
