I’m doing a 5x5 tent with 4x4 flood table

I have a 4x4 also, however the 3x3 flood drain seems small.

what size pots are best to grow in flood and drain? I’m thinking 3gallon then 5gallon but open to suggestions. Any thoughts welcome .

That's kind of a loaded question...
Do you have a plant count limitation?
Do you want to SOG, sea of green?
Do you want to SCROG, screen of green?
How big of plants do you want/how long do you want to VEG?

A flood and drain table can have any size pot used on it.
The size of the pot is based more on the desired size of the plant.
You can run 60 - 4 inch pots, or you can run 4 - 3 to 5 gallon pots...
There are even guys running Ebb and Flow without using any medium at all:

I run Ebb and Flow but my system is a little different.
My external reservoir feeds two individual 5 gallon totes, each holding one 2 gallon fabric pot filled with expanded clay pellets. One plant per 5 gallon tote. Floods for 3 minutes every 4 hours.

It may be helpful for you to go to the Grow Journal section and search for 'flood and drain'.
That way you can see how some other folks have their tables set up.

If you have specific questions, I would be happy to try and help.

Cheers,

Im planning on running coco in smart pots in the 3x3. I am going to run 3gallon. I think I will get a standard 5" deep aqua table.

On the 4x4 I am going with 7" deep I want to run deeper pots like 5s or maybe 7s. I was going to try to mix a little pebble with coco.

The deed (premium) 3x3 flood tables from Active Aqua are 41"x41" (OD) which shouldn't seem small for a 4x4. You want fresh air to be able to pass by the outsides of the table since your intakes are at the bottom of the tent.

Is it worth it to get deep flood tables 7” or should I get 5”.

mom thinking standard 5” on the 3x3 table and 7” on the 4x4.

When I ran a flood table, I used an active aqua 2x2 (in a 3x3 tent) and it was 7" deep - you only flood a few inches though so maybe you can get away with a more shallow table but since I haven't tried, I don't want to talk out of my ass. I did eventually convert the table to top feed/drain to waste and the depth became more or less pointless to me. Idk

Consider drip system to make sure the roots inside the net pots get fed, although 7" sides should cover it
