I Got Stressed

Howdy Community,

I really wanted my first grow to go great. My plants were going great(ish, I developed what I think was a magnesium or calcium deficiency soon after flower - ran to the store and got the General Hydroponics Micro blend) and I ended up just letting them go probably two or three weeks too soon... Work got so busy :( Maybe this was "Bro Science" but I ended up listening to a YouTube video that told me to stop feeding it and to just let it cannibalize itself. Perked my ears up!

"I don't have to take care of them anymore??!!?!!? Sweet!"

Did that. Now they look dead, and the trichomes aren't getting any darker. I have the Cannabis Grower's Handbook by Ed Rosenthal - I should probably look at that... but I would like some fellow growers to give me their 2 cents if y'all don't mind.

Here is the first week of me switching to flower: IMG_6124. This was taken about January 21st.
Here is what they look like at this point in time + a Girl Scout Cookies auto flower that I started way too late (I graduate in May, lease ends in July): IMG_6405 through IMG_6407.

I am looking for someone tell me to cut the left two down. I just need a second opinion. I don't see ANY brown trichomes, and no development really at all. They look good ENOUGH, but I want an enjoyable high and not a shaky one. I would really like to share this with my sick Uncle as well - hence both my impatience and worry. I am sure he would also like an enjoyable high. He grew when he was younger and I don't want to disappoint him.

Much love,

Kyle

its called flushing, there are many degrees of flushing, from just useing water every time there drying out or flushing tons of water through the soil and washing out any nutes that way.
i personaly dont flush , i just give water for the last few weeks, but i grow organic and theres a lot of unused nutrients left in the soil, fish blood n bone, for one.
if you flush too early, you wash out the nutrients that the plant needs to fully flower, results vary on the degree of flushing given, but generaly, just give water for the last few days

personaly, and this is just me, i would chop the left hand one down to any good buds left and focus on them, or just do away with it and give all your attention to the right hand one

they look airy?? but if you are having trouble checking trichomes, option 2 is check pistils. and new white pistils popping? from what i can tell it doesnt seem it and the orange pistils i can see are looking like they a receeding, so i believe you might be in the window.

They definitely aren't as fat as I would have liked - not sure if this is genetics or if it is because I started flushing too early. I will have to look into that thank you for pointing that out!

I would like to grow organic next or maybe the grow after the next. My water's pH is about 8 where I live, so I usually still add lemon juice or nutrients to the water to lower the pH. If I am in a pinch and they look real dry I will just use straight water though. I think I did flush too early, so the plants probably weren't able to completely flower to maturity huh...

I know a lot about beer, and one thing I know about fermentation is that if you drink a young beer before it has had time to mature you can get some gnarly hangovers. Is this the case with weed? I have had some weed before where it gave me some bad headaches, although I am not sure if this could have been caused by some other issue. Aside from not getting the best product or high, are there any issues with harvesting an immature bud?

If you harvest early it will be a speedy high due to the trichomes being clear, as they mature and turn milky and then amber they produce a more mello high. The strain also play a role in the type of high of course.

I grow organic and I forgot where my PH pen is. Just water and top dress in flower and no flushing of chems. Try 707 soil or build a soil 3.0 both are great for organic beginner's.

An easier cheaper solution to water being high PH is vinegar 1 tbsp per gallon it turns 7.8-8 to 6 or 6.2
Easy isn’t always better. A 1/2 dose of feed can bring the ph down into the zone (6-7) on its own. There’s nothing to gain by flushing unless you’re seriously overfeeding them. You want them to be able to eat til it’s last day.
They grow/mature/age until the chop.
If those pistils keep popping up, and there’s nothing for the plant to eat, the leaves will start to die. Once the leaves in the bud die, rot will start to set in. Then, all your efforts are what ends up flushed down the toilet.
This plant not only looks like it’s hungry, but it looks like it’s incapable of up taking nutrients correctly. Which means flushing may not be the reason why it’s yellow.
I’m not pro, but that’s what my take from what I think I know.

edit: they really look like they can use some epsom salt. 1tsp per gallon of water.
