Hello everyone,

Maybe I just keep grabbing lemons but I've had three clip fans burn out on me now. What's a solid make/model of clip fan?

Cheers.

you must be getting duds, honestly i would take them/send them back and politely ask for replacement. a fan is a simple device, shouldnt be breaking down all like that, more then likely its the way your treating them more than anything. high temps, constant on an off or power changes can affect the life if your fans.

I've got one, actually a 6" desktop, that I've been using for over 3 years, at least 8 hours a day.
It has gotten sticky a couple times, but the trick to saving the small motors on those is maybe once a week, with the fan off, spin it by hand, and if you feel increased resistance, shoot a little Deep Creep or WD40 on the front and back of the shaft, letting it run into the bearings.
Then spin it again, and you will notice it loosened up for another month or so.

I got mine for about 10 bucks at Camping World one time when I was there, never tried the ones at Walgreens or the regular stores.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I have a fan going all the time.

This just got me thinking that I'm running them too much. Mid-12/12, my grow space is cramped so I like to keep the air moving; however, is it stressful to have a lot of direct air current going on? Does anyone put their fans on a timer? None of the clip fans I've owned have had an oscillation feature.
