all my years of growing have come to this conclusion.
UV and sulphur uptake are most important for THC production, especially when you are trying to get above 23%.
other than that, extremely good genetics are required as well.

LEDs produce almost zero UV, and a UV LED...ummm yeah nope. its too narrow in the wavelengths to be off any effect, you need full UVB and slight UVC range to promote the plant to go into max THC production.. or so it seems from testing.

Id love to hear input on this. or others experiance if they have switched. especially if you have been back and forth between the two.

just found this, Most UV LEDs actually only produce UVA light, which can be safer and less damaging than UVB. However, the reason why UVB light is beneficial to plants is because it introduces damage and the plant responds with a defense, so UVB light is ideal.

im afraid im only useing my leds for seedlings and clones in the early stages and then on to my metal halide for groth and flowering.
so its a safty think, why do they sell the uv protection glasses if thats the case,

I've used both, and my favorite is a combo of both. LED/CMH/LED/CMH..... etc. It's the best of both worlds if you ask me.

thc resin is an insect deterant produced buy the plant, i could be wrong. i remember when it was absolutly nessesary to use red odium lights for flowering, but better results can be had with metal halide imo
so your combo, combines the best of both worlds red from the led and blue uv from compact metal halide

you forgot altitude, that and uvb is whats needed to produce more thc. but if we could replicate altitude, id be growing coca leaf tea to go with my thc

HC potency is decided, like we said before, by UV rays. There are three kinds of UV rays: UV-a, UV-b and UV-c. Like we said before, the more UV-b rays that your plants get the more production they’ll have but with a lower quality resin than expected, as these rays are extremely damaging to the resin’s composition. A 12 hour light period will give your plants a much more potent THC level than a 10 hour flowering period. The more intense the light, the more THC your plants will have.

if we could pramote cbg production, we would increase thca production and in turn thc, then the longer you leave it, the more cbn would be produced. cbn being a vital part of high thc

Where's the evidence of this? You're making a lot of strong claims and providing zero evidence that backs them up. You either have experimental evidence that you can present or you have literature that you can cite. Simply stating it and then repeating that you have stated it does not make a thing true or correct.

Again, hps/mh/cmh don't output any significant UV..... Due to glass outer envelope and safety standards.

UVc is detrimental to plant health and doesn't hit the plant canopy outdoors (filtered)
I still want to experiment with Hortilux CMH. supposedly they use a different type of glass that allows the UV out. These bulbs just last so damn long that I'm still at least 18months away from needing to buy a new one.

I'd like to try a couple 4 ft agromax in my tent in the future, once I get a few CMH grows under my belt for comparison. Do you cycle them on and off with a timer? Everyone seems to use them differently, but 15 min a few times per day seems common.

On a commercial level, it makes sense. I would maybe buy one to prevent PM, The THC levels my plants produce is good enough that I'm not going to add additional timers, bulbs, maintenance just for a small boost in THC.

Do these bulbs produce enough UV to prevent powdery mildew? I've seen studies on UV and powdery mildew but any info regarding the agromax lights specifically?
