And here's another one, a guy in Carmel Valley who claimed his 500 plants were for "personal use." He also stole water from the fish.

Happens all the time in the area. The risk is so low now vs the reward. 500 plants gets 6 months in jail, or maybe makes enough money to retire if you call pull it off right.

At 71 it wouldn't be early retirement for this guy though.

In all the states with legal rec, the busts for being over plant limits go up.

Frankly a successful grow might be his only chance at retirement.

but very rare its a felony charge.unlike the old days.4 yrs ago 20 plants get you 5 yrs.now nobody cares about 20 plants around here.

Retire on 500 plants? I don't think that would be enough, especially as everything is getting more expensive as the years roll by.

Yeah, it's not really enough, but assuming that you are 71 and barely hanging on with just social security, the extra $150k in your pocket might be the difference between making it past 75 or not.
