Indoor-Outdoor Soilmix Question

I enjoy making my own soilmix, for "indoor" use, and the thought struck me - what about "outdoor" use. If my soilmix is "the best" for indoors, would it also be "the best" to fill planting holes with, outdoors? At first I thought "Of course it would". Then I thought "Hold on here, there may be more than meets the eye".

So, how about it? Could one really good soilmix be the "Best of Both Worlds"? Or, are we really looking for two different animals here? I'd really like to hear from people who grow both ways on a regular basis.

Really, nothing? I'm not talking about a big outdoor grow, maybe just three or four "pampered" plants with planting holes about 4-6 cu.ft.

Plenty of people dig out holes and backfill them with their own mix. Using native soil, as long as it isn't poor, is considered more ecofriendly. I prefer the method of starting in large pots with holes in the bottom so that once the plant is nice and established, the rots can continue to grow down.
